First foray this year & good to be out on a mild Spring day. One trout to a small beaded pink nymph early on, then very quiet for remaining couple of hours fishing up lower section of beat to where fallen trees turned it into an assault course.

Two Small WBT caught on hares ear nymph. Always a challenge this time of year and access difficult due to overgrown vegetation. Still a great beat to fish. Water levels low, but still a few decent pools and riffles. Didn’t see any fish rising today, hence nymphing. Did try a few terrestrials and Adam’s dry to no avail. A few big trees down and across the river making it difficult to navigate.

Fantastic afternoons fishing at Kington! Most fish produced from 3 very special and productive slow runs. Water was up slightly following rain the preceding night, this bit of colour and murk helped no end with the stealth aspect of this small stream. Bit of water pushing through seemed to have gotten the fish feeding on the top too, with some caught to the dry sedge of a duo setup, as well as the usual vicious hits on a flashy black beadhead nymph suspended below. Great day out, only covered about a third of the beat as well! Cheers WUF

Well plumbed for one of my old favourites !!! Good old faithful Kington beat of the Arrow , that I know so well . Dull overcast and a tiny bit of drizzle when I parked up at the Hergest Btidge at eight bells . Perfect weather I thought ,as I set up my trustee six foot , two weight rod and a tint Parachute Pheasant Tail . Did the business this morning , that and a Para Greenwells , And surprisingly good fish in skinny low water too .

Nine brought to the net this morning , ranging in size from seven to eleven inches . I did have a cracker on the dry just above the weir , strewth he surprised me , and really put up a quick five second scrap then he was off !!!!! Dooooooooh , oh well there for another day , wiser and and smarter no doubt !! All fish on the Parachute dries , Great fun as always . . . . . . .

The river is getting a tad low now , a lot of my casting was on my knees , and I'm feeling it now as I write this report !!! Running clear , no real algal build up on the rocks yet . Looks like rain into next week , so that'll refresh the rivers a good bit I hope !!!

Did not do the full beat , cut out into the field , were a pipe runs to the farm crossing the river at about waist height . Lots of debris building up against it WUF . May cause a problem later on , as might the two big trees down further downstream !!! A good bit of tidying up needs to be done here , it's looking very much unloved , especially up passed the weir !!!! Shocking state in places . But loop round these rough areas and you'll find some fishable water . . . . Just !!!!

Always nice to have a session here , it's easy for me to get too and very very local , so absolutely ideal !! Well a relaxing four hours , some lovely brownies to the net , a quick lunch then time to get some chainsawing done . . . . . No peace for the wicked hey !!!!!! Lol . . . . . . . . . . .

Fished the lower part of the beat c. 800 metres upstream from Hergest Bridge. Significantly easier than Hergest Court and Titley beats fished previously as overhanging trees rather less dense. However probably less than 50% of this beat is actually fishable, which is a pity as there are some great pools heavily overhung. I like to think that I am a competent fly caster but side casts, roll casts and even the "bow and arrow" approach proved impracticable. Sparse hatch of olives; numerous midges visible and a few rises. River effectively blocked by two large fallen trees below the Gladestry Brook.

Well had all intentions to head to one of the Cilieni beats ,but didnt relish the thought of an hours journey in this heat !!! So plumbed for one of my favourites!!! Again stifling even at ten to eight when I parked up , reading 17 degrees in my truck and rising fast !!!

Tackled up the usual six foot two weight rod , and opted for a tiny 18 Parachute pheasant Tail, worked a treat and casting to risers and prospecting had some lovely takes this morning ! Superb fun . . .

Rivers getting a tad low now , even from a week ago !! Did notice some otter spraint up by the weir too, were I called it a day , and cut out into the field at half eleven . Eight portly , feisty chaps between seven and ten inches to the net and a couple missed . Must do the whole beat one of these mornings after three shredded wheat !!! As it's a jungle up passed the weir !!!lol !!!

Great fun as always and a really pleasant three hours sport , lovely job !! Will attempt to get to the Upper Cilieni next week !! Happy days . . . .

Well couldnt resist another session on the Kington beat of the Arrow ! Arrived at the bridge at nine and again was muggy and slightly overcast !! Initially started with a rusty Klinkhammer. No Mayflies on the go till one and then today they were smashing them hard !!

Good takes on the Klinkhammer and I also fished the Parachute Adam's. The trees that are down are a dam nuisance to negotiate!! Can these be shifted by tractor WUF ??? The huge one has taken out a lovely pool , typical hey !!

Anyway had a three nice fish from just above the weir on a Mohican Mayfly !! Lovely violent takes , especially if you twitch them back !! Superb. . . .

I've made a bit of a walk way to the right of the pump house and down to the river !! Saw a nice adult grass snake in the boggy water under the metal grilling . Top tip do not stand on these grill panels whatsoever!!!!!

Good fun today , finished at one ,.eight Arrow crackers to the net and a few off today too ,.that's how it goes sometimes hey !! Pleasant walk back along the side of the field and nice to get back to the truck for a well earned cold can of pop !! Sorted!! Hoping the bracken clock is on the go end of the week up in the Elan Valley , as giving one of my old favourites Claerwen a bash ! So hope the fish are looking up there too . . . . . . Lovely job !!!

Well , Monday morning blues had to be shifted, so headed for one of my old stomping grounds , the Arrow at Kington !! Looking fab when I parked up and a gorgeous trouty height to the river too !!!

Fished between half nine and twelve this morning as had a few projects to crack on with at home . Warm and muggy reading fourteen in my truck when I initially set up my six foot two weight and opted for a tiny Parachute Iron blue which always does well here !!

Good solid splashy takes this morning ; all on the Iron blue or Adams in the fast water!! Great fun and some lovely tubby fish in a tally of nine . A few mayfly on the go from tenish , but previous seasons have shown me that they dont dine on them till mid afternoon here !!! Sizes from eight to eleven inches today ,.also two good fish lost on the barbless hooks !!!! Cest la vie !!!

Only got to the huge ash tree that's across the river , didn't fancy a scramble around it !!! So cut out into the field and bimbled back to the truck . Ohh and nice to see a style incorporated in the fencing , spot on !! I'm sure theres probably one up by the weir too !! A lovely session back home , a quick early dinner then crack on with some jobs !!! No peace for the wicked hey !!!! Lol !

Afternoon session undr a covered weather and mild weather (15C). A few ephemera danica and (what I identified as) brook duns were around. Despite little surface activity, I hooked a few trouts with a large deer hair mayfly in the ripples.

A quiet day afternoon on the section above Mallhollam Bridge. Water clear and back to low level after last weekend's rain, which was not enough to clear algae from river bed, so slippery wading still. A fair amount of insect activity, but only one rising fish spotted in a nearly impregnable position, which declined my offering on the one occasion I got fly near it. Otherwise persisted with nymphing to no avail.
