Three hours fishing. 3 trout - 9" to Royal Wolf dry, 1 superb 13½" trout who smashed into a Mayfly nymph as soon as it touch the water. Perfect conditions on deeper pools.

Water running low and a bright sky but a fair number of fish moving to olives and a few mayfly. Fish where between 10 and 12 inch and in great condition. We
lost/missed/spooked plenty of others, including some larger chaps! Lots of fry in the water. A great day out !

A lovely stretch of water, a most enjoyable day.
Fishing not easy, almost giving the impression the fish were still recovering from winter.

This is a lovely beat with a new challenge around each corner. The water was a little coloured and although there was plenty of fly life on the water, few Mayfly were rising and even fewer trout. A small black nymph (size 20) worked early on then caught a couple on Mayfly patterns.

Although carrying more colour than we would have liked following recent heavy rain the brook appeared to be only a couple of inches above normal level and was relatively easy to wade. In the absence of any rising fish AW took 4 fish on weighted nymphs in the morning. An early lunch coincided with the beginning of a very limited and sporadic rise which prompted both of us to switch to and persevere with the dry fly until early evening. As is often the case in these conditions most rising fish were to be found where the vegetation made casting extremely difficult and/or the current made drag all but inevitable. Nevertheless we both took fish. To his great credit AW also found a fly that persuaded a number of non-rising fish to the surface. A nice stretch of water, albeit something of an obstacle course!

Just a couple of hours early Sunday morning. Very quiet. One solitary rise and one decent sized fished spotted among tree roots. Fish not in evidence in the pools where you would expect them. Water fairly low.
