Sunny periods and river very low. No rises but managed a lovely 8" wbt on small pt nymph. The beat access map shows the river to be accessibly fishable from down stream of the bridge which is where I caught the fish but there does not appear to be access to upstream of the road bridge with barbed wire across the stream. Fishing therefore disappointingly curtailed as had hoped for a longer day by/in the water.

Weather 17deg intermittent light drizzle. I struggled with this beat. Didn’t see a fish. Also the stream was very sparse with only deep slow pools fishable.

Warm sunny day and low water levels. My fishing buddy, there were two anglers, have decided it is better to collaborate than complete, so I’m going to report our collective catch at 11. The fact that he managed to locate two graying shoals (I didn’t think they did that in the summer) is irrelevant. I fished the challenging water and managed to hook a fine wbt. He, I have to concede is the better river angler, and took the rest.

Fished a few hours in the morning from bottom of beat to road bridge. Water seemed very grey considering how clear it was the day before at Knill (until a load of 4x4s turned round IN the ford!!). Plus a bit odd couple of foamy/scum patches-not sure if this is normal as wild streams are new to me! Also saw a mink
