Fished 1830-2030 as it was a lovely, warm evening. Only a couple of tiny fish rising occasionally in the shallow water, took one on a claret klinkhammer and one on a ptn, both only about 4-5 inches. Quite a few splashy rises to the dry from equally tiny fish that didn't stick.
A pleasant evening out - the only one for the bank holiday weekend unfortunately - and the stream is flowing nicely but feels more overgrown than last season, so a couple more stretches went unfished.

8 x trout 6-10 inches, Rusty Klinkhammer. AT LAST, a few of the little fellows seemed prepared to look up. Maybe I can leave my box of nymphs at home for a bit.

Glorious lunchtime and afternoon working up the stream following a snap decision to make use of the fine weather and can off work for the day.
Fog lingering all the way up the Severn vale all morning, but started to burn off when I arrived at the stream around lunchtime. Stream running fast, high and pretty coloured. Made wading awkward with not having much of a view. Cursed myself for no wading staff as some sections are a little uneven underfoot and its a little while since I last fished this stretch so a little hazy on the topography. A number of trees have come down over the winter. They don't affect wading but a couple of pools are now harder to fish without getting snagged up.
4 wbt to hand over the course of the afternoon taken on nymphs; olive and then a cream caddis type thing once the olive succumbed to the vegetation (both bead headed). An equal number managed to slip the hook before I could land them.
Prospected with dries in the likely places on a few pools but don't think the fish are looking up yet, despite sporadic hatches occurring all afternoon. Didn't see a single rise

Not sure whether Friday the 13th or ineptitude had anything to do with it, but blanked! Still v enjoyable but some care needs to be taken at the moment when wading. There are a few places where depth goes from boot to chest depth within a pace.

5 x trout 6-11 inches, Goldbead Hare's Ear. Still pretty high and turbulent, but a few pools were viable.

My first outing on the Passport scheme - thoroughly enjoyable beat, very much a small stream. Fished from 12.00-2.30, no real hatch and absolutely nothing rising, missed two and caught one about 6", GHRE under klink. Which I was pretty pleased with, but then slightly paled with second beat tried today...

4 x trout 6-9 inches, Goldbead Hare's Ear nymph. Obviously. I don't think we are going to see rising fish for a while yet, so it was a case of trundling a nymph along the bottom of some of the slower pools.

3 x trout 6-10 inches, Rusty Klinkhammer. Very difficult today as this brook, like the other forest streams, is still very low and clear. even as yet another flood comes down the Wye.

Fished around 1130-1430. Stream was deeper and cooler with the recent rain but the water was fairly clear and looked very promising. The banks are getting very overgrown now making casting impossible around a number of pools - himalayan balsam in abundance - and I got tangled up a few times.
Not much visible activity; fairly few fish spooked in the pool tails as I tramped through, suggesting they were mostly holding in the deeper parts? Spotted one fish rising after an hour and, when covered, he promptly took an olive klinkhammer but threw it after a few seconds. No more rises seen and the three that did stay on were all around 7" and took a soft-hackled ptn fished close to the bottom.
Very pleasant afternoon.
