Fished from 1100 - 1500 plenty of trout seen scuttling about but with only a few rises. Lots of people on the path by the stream with kids and dogs paddling. I'd be keen to come back midweek when it is quieter to make the most of this stream.

Started fishing early morning and finished after couple hours. No visible fish rises, no catches, water level low and basicly really small river more likely had a walk.

Went after work and nothing was happening at all until about 7pm, at which point there was a proper evening rise - fish everywhere in the bigger pools and deeper runs. All on dries (is it almost summer, finally?!) olive klink probably took most but size 14 hare's ear DHE was popular, and took a few on a Grey Wulff. Mind you, I think some of them would have taken anything. All 4-9inch and returned safely.

Not the best weather conditions, very warm, clear skies an bright sunlight. Also being a bank holiday weekend lots of walkers, dogs, cyclists, etc.

Water levels weren't too bad with some colour in the water. Managed to get five trout to hand, lost another 5 or 6. Did see some fish taking off the surface at one location, even with the bright sunlight shining on the water. A few casts into this area brought one trout to hand.

Fished from 3.30 - very enjoyable afternoon with 11 coming to hand and missed a few more, up to 8inch. A slow start until I worked out that a nymph with a bright red bead was what they seemed to be after.

Probably too much water, but very enjoyable despite only having one take (which I lost)! - took a Greenwells spider having tried various nymphs and dry flies.

...second trip today, fished 3.30-6.00. Brook actually slightly bigger than I was expecting from passport scheme description, nothing rising or obviously hatching but trout taking nymphs in all likely looking places, 10 between 6-9inches came to hand and probably missed a similar number. Duo very effective, gold head nymph under something buoyant. Great fun.

8 x trout 7-9 inches, Goldhead Hare's Ear nymph. All fat little fellows with a bright colour; they seem to have come through the winter well. I set myself the unpleasant task of hoiking a dead deer out of the water at least far enough for scavengers to get at it. There was a dead boar and a badger along the road nearby; corpses seemed to be everywhere in the Forest this morning! On a lighter note, the cycle hire shop at the top of the beat now has a coffee shop / refreshments arrangement which should be open weekends and holidays at least. Or go for a pint after fishing at the Woodman at the top of the village.
