13 x trout 6-9 inches, Rusty Klinkhammer. The little stream is pretty low now. An evening session when the heat of the day had dropped off a bit.

This little stream is rather low but fishable. Took all the 4 to 6 inch browns on dries of various types, Sedges, Humpies, I also had plenty of rises. Noticed a couple of large mayflies flying around, not sure what species they were but looked like E. Dancia.

22 wbt to 9 inches. All caught on a dropper fished under the dry fly. I had a few splashy rises to the dry but no solid takes - goes to show how effective the NZ style dropper can be compared to a single dry. The river was easy to access albeit small and shallow. Improvised casting was required! The deeper pools all held a good number of fish.

25 x trout 6-10 inches on Rusty Klinkhammer. The water is pretty low and clear at the moment but this one seems to be fishing nicely. Note that the Forestry Commission's contractor has just about finished the tree thinning in these woods, which opens up some opportunities in the centre of the beat. Don't expect all the log jams to be gone - this is still a wild stream - but access is easier than it was a couple of months ago.

Caught 5 brown trout, lost another 4. Water level really was very low compared to a month or so ago but still great fishing. 1 caught on a balloon Caddis off the surface, with the rest caught on a bead head nymph suspended underneath. Did see what I thought were Yellow Dun's hatching.

9 trout taken on a either a Klinkhammer or nymph; in fact two fish taken on both at the same time. Agree with the previous comment, the central section is almost un-fishable due to the forestry work with so much debris in the stream. All fish caught on the lower section, which is a lot clearer. A lot of fun navigating up the stream and catching some feisty little trout especially on a 6 ft 2# rod.

13 x trout 6-8 inches, Goldhead Hare's Ear nymph. This one has also woken up, with the trout inhabiting the fast runs rather than the dubs. I didn't see any rises. I'm afraid the delayed forestry thinning work has made rather a mess of the centre section of this beat for now, but there is still a good 4 hours fishing here.

15 x trout 6-9 inches, Rusty Klinkhammer. Still low, although recent showers have put a bit of colour into it.

I spent a quiet evening exploring the top end of the Cannop Brook close to the weir. Fish were rising to mayflies. Three trout to hand largest at 9 inches, one on kites imperial, two on Hares Ear Nymph. Joined by a tree creeper and a fallow deer in the dusk. Will return.
