If the size of the fish is not critical to your sport then this beat is for you. All fish were small WBT in 6-8" range and much fun on a light rod. Lightening quick takes meant I missed a lot too. All caught on small tan Adams or green Klinkhammer against a steady although sparse hatch. Bottom section is fast running stream with frequent small pools. Above the parking the upper section drops below field level and meanders with some longer pools. Not all fish in this river are small - I spooked a very large fish in one of the deeper pools.

Fished from 6pm until 8pm. Beautiful evening and beautiful location but no fish seen. Wading easier on this occasion because less flow but even so full waders would have been a better than the thigh waders I elected to use. Tried a CDC Emerger pattern and then a black foam and white antron winged dry fly. Probably should have switched to a nymph, but treated the session as a casting practice. Brambles becoming problematic in places and the winter spate has washed away some sections of the banks - principally the left bank. Annoying that the access styles have barbed wire stretched across the top. Would it be permissible to tie some rubber tubing over this barbed wire?

Pretty spot but wading a bit of a challenge because of the rocky, uneven bottom and fast current. Glad that I had full waders, felt and studded soled wading boots, and a wading staff. Started with a dry fly Red Tag but switched to Gold-Headed Pheasant Tail nymph because saw no rises. In all spent 4 hours at the beat and did not sight a fish. However, I will persevere, especially since I live nearby. Saw a few Dippers and a Leech.

Water very low and crystal clear. Mostly bright sunlight. Banks VERY heavily overgrown. Fished upstream wet fly. Frightened one 4" trout with size 14 Peter Ross. Saw nothing else but there were 2 herons and a kingfisher there!

I arrived at 9am and the water was gin clear and I mean clear more like a chalk stream. I quickly found out that my 8ft rod was too big for this beat and the fish very elusive! I saw maybe 1 rise and the fish could probably see me before I saw them, I blanked due to me not being a ninja!

Blank. Probably due to over-enthusiasm to try a new WUF beat, I failed to pay due attention to the altitude and tried too early. That's my excuse, anyway. According to the chap who farms above the beat, it's around 900 feet here. A lovely warm day and even some olives and stone flies around, but I failed to see or touch anything with fins. The water did feel ice-cold - I should come back in a a few weeks and try again. It's a beautiful valley and there were red kites overhead all day. Even the parking place has an ancient sort of Gabriel Oak shepherd's hut parked on the verge.
