Gorgeous small water beat! Lots of technical type casting but very easy wade. Fished above Titley bridge to the upstream boundary. Water was quite chilly and crystal clear. Turning a few rocks saw loads of caddis, a few stonefly and scuds galore. As the sun warmed the water, began to see quite a few caddis and mayfly buzzing about. Managed to catch 3 browns the biggest being nearly 12”.All three were caught on a Tungsten Surveyor size 16 with a 3.m bead. Would love to return to this beat with warmer weather and more normal flows.

Well decidedly nippy this morning out with the pooch ,.knowing the Arrow was running at a good height opted for the Lyonshall beat . . . Turned up at half nine still only reading seven degrees in my truck , kitted up and mooched to the start of the beat . . .

Hard work this morning and knowing it was a long shot , the Arrow being a late starter ; had three nice fish from Kington a few days ago !! Still lovely being out though . . . .

The two fish I did have this morning were still feisty little fellows one about six inches one about nine !!I must say the water here is still very cold , no wonder the fish seemed to be pretty thin on the ground . . . I'm sure another month it'll be a different story .Both the fish were caught on a deeply fished PTN . Other than those , nowt . . . But did only go up to the start of the woods area .

Plenty of insect life present around midday,.a few olives and nice to see anemones growing just past the wooden hut , they look fabulous !! Always a pleasure being on this beat , the kingfishers go.msd up and down , and their shrill call too , super!!!

Well a nice chilled out three hours sport , I'll be back here again in May , will try the Hindwell next week I reckon, see if they've woken up there !! Spot on . . . .

Wanted to give somewhere local a bash , after a series of night shifts , so headed to the Whittern beat ,got there at two, cold northerly gusty wind and sunshine eeekkkkkk!!! Kitted up with my usual rig , opting for a single hot orange tiny tungsten nymph , hard work today to be honest , had one on the nymph , and up passed the second bridge saw a riser , and had him with an eighteen Parachute Adam's, lovely take , both fish the usual stamp for here , about eight or nine inches , and feisty little fish too !!!

The water was back to pretty low , although running nice and clear and cold too !! Several fly pasts of the kingfisher up and down the river ,great too see . . . Looks like that might be me for the small streams this season , a short season due to the obvious pandemic , but varied on these wild streams I must say , and some clonkers too !!! The Whittern beat like some of the others is getting messy , lots of boughs down , overhanging Alderson and the like !!!

Still a cracking three hours , good fun , nice to finish my wild streams sortie on the Arrow , up to a couple of the reservoirs in the Elan Valley over the next few days look forward too that , sorted!!!!

Well wasnt optimistic this morning , as saw on the Titley gauge still sitting at .39 so a tad high ,but gave it a go before shopping at Mozzies !!!
Nothing on the dries , only fished from between the bridges , well in fact half way down to be honest, and I parked at the Titley pull in , farmer busy in the neighbouring field !!! A lot if the crops look ruined . .
Anyway the fishing was as expected, hard going , two small spirited brownies this morning, five and eight inches respectively, only stayed an hour and a half , good takes on a Copper John , so not a wasted trip at all . . . And nice to see a bit of water pushing through . . . Be superb by Monday or Tuesday , may try an early session.then , in between shifts !!!!! Always nice too be out , great to be on the river after yesterdays session up at Garreg Ddu reservoir , looking forward to early next week already , spot on , onwards to Morrisons , ohhhhhhh joy !!!!!

Bowled up at the lovely Whittern beat of the Arrow at about half seven, nice flow to it and very workable with the fresh water in the system at last! It's been a while since we've had a good bit of rain and this much needed rainfall over the last week on and off has livend up the Arrow a treat . . .

On to the fishing. Well as usual, I like to work a tiny Parachute dry and that's what I did for all the time I was there, alternating between a Para Adams and a Greenwells. Some lovely hard splashy takes this morning, especially between the two bridges.

Pocket water also producing some lovely little brownies this morning and even in the waders, water is nice and cold, spot on. Three crackers around the Titley bridge, one nearly leaping out it was so enthusiastic to grab the fly! The fresh water has certainly put a spring in the trout step. Aggressive hits on all the nine trout I brought to the net this morning. Four or five flumped strikes too. Was a lovely change and nice to be back on one of my local wild streams after having a ball for two sessions up at Craig Goch reservoir and one super morning at Claerwen, tweaking wets back in the wave with some lovely slamming hits by the Elan brownies.

A really fun three hours sport. Fish this morning ranging from six to eleven inches and as always, the gorgeous Arrow colouration, spot on. Back here soon, possibly after this gruesome storm has gone tommorrow, back home, some outdoor jobs before a visit to the dentist . . . . Joyous . . . . L.o.l !!!!

Hoping for some more water in the river after the big thunderous downpours of the last few days, but it was still very low with just a tinge of colour.

Wading on this beat is very easy, and I made my way up from the bottom, until the weather started rolling in and I called it a day. I really enjoyed some of the upper waters that I made my way to (just past the "island" on the map) and was disappointed not to be able to explore more of that - definitely one to re-vist.

Had 3 splashy takes to small dries, but didn't connect with any of them.

Wanted to beat the heat this morning , so parked up early bells by the Whittern pull in, already muggy and warm, reading seventeen in my truck !!! Sun not come through yet, and a summer mist in the valley, knowing it'll soon lift with the heat of the day . . .

River low, but still workable with dries and that's exactly how I played things !!! Fishing an eighteen Balloon Caddis and also had success on an eighteen Parachute Iron Blue . . Lovely splashy takes this morning in the skinniest of water, always amazes me that!!!

Fish ranging from six to ten inches this morning, nothing huge but still fun on the two weight rod and five to the net with another two slipping the hook, doooooooh !!! Two good days heavy rain would be just the ticket here . Only a quick session this morning, six till half eight, really good fun, back home for some zzzzzzzz' s as working a night shift tonight gggrrrrrr !! A fun morning, back up Rhayader over the weekend, happy days . . . .

Arrived early and left around 3pm. The river was very low, weather overcast with rain showers. Fish not really interested in feeding. One half hearted take on a buzzer under the lower end bridge but fish lost. Only trout landed was about 8-10" taken, rose to a small black ant around mid day.

First time on this beat. No idea why....as it’s only 10 minutes away! I guess the super convenience of Court of Noke is probably why. Anyway. Fished from start of beat and up passed the second bridge. Some lively runs interspersed by shallow still flats. Managed 4 to olive goldhead and missed a couple to the Klink above. Didn’t go all the way. Was really testing new waders....bone dry! Phew! So the catching was incidental, but very welcome.
