Llyn Bochlwyd is located below Tryfan and Glyder Fach 555m above sea level. Anglers should aim for the stream flowing from the lake, which can be seen well to the right of Tryfan. The path alongside the stream is very steep so do take a few stops to admire the fantastic views. Accessing this fishery does take an ample level of fitness, but even at a medium pace you can reach the lake in 40-45 minutes. Given its altitude, do be prepared for sudden changes in the weather. This can be wild fishing in more than one sense.
Natural wild brown trout only in this lake up to ½lb but they are strong fighting fish. Weed grows in some sections but there are plenty of clear areas to fish and fishing the margins of this flora can pay dividends to the angler with an accurate cast. Walking around the lake is challenging because there’s no clear path and thick vegetation mainly heather and bilberry plants as well as large boulders come right to the margins.
Two more lakes can be fished with this ticket - Llyn Idwal and Ffynnon Lloer. No night fishing is allowed but fishing is allowed to continue into the following day, up to 24 hours from the time you started fishing.
Tickets are available to fish all of the Ogwen Valley Angling Association waters. For more information, click here
