1 rod fished . Windy with heavy showers & cooler than of late, river risen since Tuesday & still rising. V little surface activity & nothing caught. Saving grace was close quarter otter sighting at 5.30pm ! Watched it transiting up river & playing in shallow tail of a pool for about a minute.

Disappointed with featureless beat other than two areas of interest. Very few fish showing, two or three all day.
Birdlife was great other than the Goosanders and Cormorants!!! Will not return.

Beat:Lower Symonds Yat

Fishing was very slow. Seems to deteriorate each year.
Lots of silkweed coming down the river and catching on the line. In over 20 years of fishing the Wye I have never seen silkweed like that. Can only put it down to the dry summer combined with pollution.
The Wye is a shadow of what it used to be.

Very slippery, dangerous banks

Fishing Passport Note : I’m afraid that difficult access is increased when the banks are wet.
