We cannot stress enough the importance of making quick and accurate returns of salmon catches, even if nothing has been caught. Recording catch data is one (perhaps the best, certainly the most cost effective) way of determining the success of our river restoration works. Although affected by short term variations in weather and water conditions, the longer term data set will build an accurate picture of our salmon runs. Catch returns can be made quickly via our online form for both Passport and non-Passport waters. Most of our reporting is from the Wye. Where a salmon has come from another river we will state accordingly.

4:14 pm Chainbridge Usk: Stuart Maccoustra has just taken 2 salmon on a spinner below the bridge where the recent access work has been carried out, 6 and 7lbs.

3:35 pm Wyesham: 2 so far today 8 and 12lbs.

3:34 pm Wyesham: 6 fish yesterday 5, 8, 12, 15, 15 and 18lbs.

2:39 pm Swanmeadow Usk: Another 2 salmon over the weekend. Mr Pluthero had a 7lber on the 13th and Mr Hogg had his second of the week, 4lbs, both on spinner. Good numbers of fish being seen there now.

5:55 pm Wyesham: 3 salmon yesterday between 5 and 8 lbs. 4 today, 1 x 7lbs and 2 x 8lbs to fishing Instructor John Symonds, and 1 x 11lbs.

5:36 pm Chainbridge Usk: Following the earlier report, Clive Hogg has just taken a 5lbs grilse from below the bridge. Clive's first salmon in 15 years of fishing! Congratulations Clive! Also a late report from August of a fish for Stuart Maccoustra taking Chainbridge to 4 this year.

3:47 pm Swan Meadow: On the Lower Usk report a 5lbs grilse today and fish seen moving. Also fish seen at Chainbridge this week.

5:31 pm Wyesham: 1 x 10lber on a small fly 'spoon' today. Big tides have brought some grilse in and Ray reports it to be stuffed down there but the fish just aren't on the take and are not moving through.
