We cannot stress enough the importance of making quick and accurate returns of salmon catches, even if nothing has been caught. Recording catch data is one (perhaps the best, certainly the most cost effective) way of determining the success of our river restoration works. Although affected by short term variations in weather and water conditions, the longer term data set will build an accurate picture of our salmon runs. Catch returns can be made quickly via our online form for both Passport and non-Passport waters. Most of our reporting is from the Wye. Where a salmon has come from another river we will state accordingly.

4:50 pm The Rocks: 3 salmon yesterday, 1 x 10lbs cock fish (Ford pool), 1 x 10lbs hen (Ford pool) and 1 x 12lbs hen (Cabin pool). Fish showing throughout the day. Big fish lost Friday before the river rose. Late report of a salmon from May also to a visiting guest rod.

6:54 pm Lower Wye clearing fast and dropping. Fish taken last week at Wyesham (Fri) and Ingeston.
1:53 pm Chainbridge: 10lb salmon and a 3.5lb seatrout for Stuart Macoustra on fly this morning. Both fish were returned.

1:14 pm Bigsweir: 16 fish so far in August with a mix of sizes, including a coloured 25lber and a fresh 17lber. The majority have been fresh 6-7lb grilse, however.
