We cannot stress enough the importance of making quick and accurate returns of salmon catches, even if nothing has been caught. Recording catch data is one (perhaps the best, certainly the most cost effective) way of determining the success of our river restoration works. Although affected by short term variations in weather and water conditions, the longer term data set will build an accurate picture of our salmon runs. Catch returns can be made quickly via our online form for both Passport and non-Passport waters. Most of our reporting is from the Wye. Where a salmon has come from another river we will state accordingly.

8:58 pm Peter Wright landed a 13lb fish on a yellow belly from the Moccas and Dave Palmer had a brace from Golden Mile (17lb and 14lb).

5:22 pm 13lber for one of the syndicate members at Whitney today.

5:20 pm Mike Judge had 3 fish from Lower Winforton this morning, 25lb, 18lb and 12lb.

11:23 am 19lbs fresh salmon just taken from the Dog Hole, Goodrich Court on a sunk line. Fish showing regularly.

6:07 am Clive Pegler landed a 12lb fish on spinner and lost another on fly at Aramstone.

10:01 pm 23.5lb fish from the Carrots.

6:50 pm More on the big fish from Severn Sisters: The fish was between 48 and 49" long and estimated to weigh at least 36lbs. It was caught by Adam Fisher in the Smokehouse Pool. Absolutely fresh and Adam, an experienced coarse fisher was able to return the fish without taking it out of the water.

6:44 pm John Taylor had a 13lb fish from Courtfield yesterday.

5:38 pm Report of a mid 30s lb fish from the Seven Sisters beat today just in - details to follow.

4:16 pm After a couple of blank days, Wyesham connected with fish again today only for all three to fall off - 2 were on fly.

3:36 pm Late report of a fish from The Carrots yesterday - 35" (approx 18lbs) to Peter Turnham in the Lydiatts Pool. He was using a Red Francis brass tube fished on a floating line with a fast sink tip.

2:26 pm Chris Brain, WUF trustee, was persuaded to go and fish the Usk so that a TV film could be made of him casting. It took just half a dozen casts to hook and land a 12lbs fish. Could be on ITV news tomorrow evening!

10:23 am 2 from Seven Sisters yesterday, 16lb and 18lb on a spinner and a much larger fish was lost on fly.

1:03 pm Philip McWalter had a fresh cock fish from the Island on the Goodrich Court beat today on a silver Toby. He kept it in the water so didn’t weigh it although it was approximately 27”.

12:29 pm Late report of a 20lb fish on a spinner from The Field (Hereford and District water) over the weekend.

10:25 am After catching his first ever springer last month, Dave Roberts had 2 more yesterday from the Upper Carrots fishery. Both were cock fish weighing 13lb and 15lb, caught on red and black Flying C. He also caught 6 kelts, mostly well mended.

10:22 am 2 more fish from Bigsweir yesterday, including one of 25lb. Another 20lb+ fish reported from Winforton.

7:57 pm 2 more from Courtfield this afternoon 10lb and 12lb plus a Kelt taken on black and yellow Flying C. Report of a fish from Bigsweir this morning.

3:54 pm Two salmon today off Home Fishery between 12.30pm and 1.30pm. 25lbs cock fish from Alder pool and 18lbs hen from above the Pumping Station pool. Both on spinner.

1:18 pm Colin Nice took a fresh 25lb cock fish from the Vanstone pool, Goodrich yesterday. Black, yellow and orange homemade 3inch brass tube with a conehead on a fast sinking line. His friend landed a 12lbs kelt.

8:47 pm Further fish reported today from Golden Mile (21.5lb), Sheepwash (14.5lb) and Whitehouse (19lb) There appears to be a decent head of fish in the Hereford to Monmouth section at the moment.

8:13 pm 3 from Lower carrots and Luggsmouth today, all on fly, 10lb, 17lb and 20lb, 2 others lost.

6:55 pm Holme Lacy 3 had its first salmon of the season today with a 20lb fish on spinner.

5:30 pm Tim Edmunds at Caradoc took an 11lb salmon this morning from Crib Hole and in the afternoon a 20lb fish from just above the hut. The latter took forty five minutes to persuade into the net! Both were on a 1.5inch yellow and black tube fly on a sinking tip attached to an intermediate line.

5:08 pm Rene Alleyne reports a 22lber from Alders pool at Courtfield and Gerry Lewis banked a fish of 19lbs from the Old Harp beat.
