We cannot stress enough the importance of making quick and accurate returns of salmon catches, even if nothing has been caught. Recording catch data is one (perhaps the best, certainly the most cost effective) way of determining the success of our river restoration works. Although affected by short term variations in weather and water conditions, the longer term data set will build an accurate picture of our salmon runs. Catch returns can be made quickly via our online form for both Passport and non-Passport waters. Most of our reporting is from the Wye. Where a salmon has come from another river we will state accordingly.

2:58 pm Another fish for Tyr Celyn today taken at 12.35pm, 12lbs and fairly fresh.
10:17 am Tuesday 8th, Glanusk Tymawr on the Usk, Stephen Barnes caught an 8lb hen, second cast on a Francis.
10:04 am 14 - 15lbs coloured salmon lost after a good fight at 8am this morning on the Rectory, also several tugs and pulls fishing an intermediate line, size 6 Willie Gunn double.
9:24 am Another fish yesterday late afternoon from Goodrich Court. John Lawson had a 5lb coloured grilse from Maddox at 5.30pm on a size 6 Cascade. Earlier, he lost a good silvery fish about 100m above the electric lines on a size 8 Arndilly Fancy. Although not any fish showing, anglers at Middle Hill Court saw a number of salmon in the deep slow pool below the Vanstone.

4:48 pm 3 salmon this morning from the Nyth 10, 8 and 10lbs. Early afternoon saw a monster cock fish caught from Tyr Celyn, coloured but in very good condition. Measured at 44ins, so estimated from chart at 33lbs.
3:47 pm Tony Norman has just taken a coloured 13.5lbs cock fish on a silver Stoats Tail from the Orchard Pool, Llanstephan.
2:50 pm Builth Town water report a 7lbs salmon from the Aber Pool last week pushing their total up to 15 for the year. They also report 3 Sea Trout this year up to 3lbs.
2:22 pm 12.5lbs coloured fish the Vanstone Pool, Goodrich for Rodney Owen Jones on a size 6 Ally variant.
10:11 am 2 salmon reported from Caradoc this month.
9:17 am Martin Bowler took a 13lbs hen fish from the Maddox Pool at Goodrich court yesterday evening around 6pm on a size 10 Cascade. Fish showing in the Vanstone Pool and the run into the Vanstone near the snag by the broken crib.

8:43 pm Wayne Tyler reports a 9lbs fish from Caemawr on a Cascade tube.
11:33 am Ian Spalding was rewarded with a 10lb coloured hen fish on a deeply fished fly fishing the far bank of the Abercymryn Pool at Craig Llyn yesterday evening.
9:56 am After a relatively quiet week last week due to warm, sunny weather reports are that the fish are beginning to show again and becoming more active.

5:07 pm A 4.5lbs grilse just reported from Wyesham, taken an hour ago on a small tube.
1:19 pm Report from Glanwye (Boatside Farm), Hay - George Scholes hooked and lost a strong fish in the Wall Pool just around 10am. James Hobbs from landed a slightly colouring cock fish of 8lb on a hand stripped 1 1/2 inch Cascade tube at 6:45pm in the head of the Wall Pool. Several fish seen as the light faded, all appearing to be running.
10:03 am Don Macer-Wright took an 8lbs salmon at Courtfield last evening on a stripped Flamethrower, lost one and failed to hook another. Saw six fish and two or three more showing above in the wood stretch and at least half a dozen good fish seen by anglers bottom end of Legg Meadow day before. Suspect all running fish. Several seen going through Wyebank and a few leaping.
9:57 am Late report in from Upper Bigsweir. On 14th August Matt Richards took a 10lbs cock fish and Mr R. Chilvers took an 8lbs hen fish on the Cockpit Pool, both to a Flying C.

11:58 am Report in from Ray Morris (Wyesham Ghillie) this morning of above average numbers of fish pushing through the lower river but not stopping. Water still slightly high but anglers are fishing.
11:09 am Late report from Lower Carrots on Tuesday 4th Sept, 4.30pm a 10lbs cock fish to Chris Adams, just above the Carrots Hole, on a homemade non descript size 12 double, a good strong fish that was just colouring up, condition of water good.
9:50 am A good fish has just been lost at Goodrich Court.
9:47 am Stuart Smith took a very coloured hen of 10lb last night at Eardisley plus another angler lost a fish.
