We cannot stress enough the importance of making quick and accurate returns of salmon catches, even if nothing has been caught. Recording catch data is one (perhaps the best, certainly the most cost effective) way of determining the success of our river restoration works. Although affected by short term variations in weather and water conditions, the longer term data set will build an accurate picture of our salmon runs. Catch returns can be made quickly via our online form for both Passport and non-Passport waters. Most of our reporting is from the Wye. Where a salmon has come from another river we will state accordingly.

10:59 am A couple of fish for Otis Ferry at Glanwye yesterday, 8lb Hen from Squeaking Roberts and a 10lb Hen from the Barn Pool.

10:47 am Brian Jones had a fish of 8lbs off the Rectory yesterday, coloured, caught on a size 8 black and yellow fly from the Bridge Pool. His friend had a salmon of 9.5lbs which was also coloured taken on a black Flying C on Ty Mawr pool. He also had 2 follows on the spinner, one was a very big fish which turned close in. He also hooked and lost another fish later that day.

10:22 am Hen salmon taken at Glan yr Afon on the Wye, 14lbs, coloured, taken on a size 6 Faughan Fancy (shrimp fly). Last light - 9pm.

8:44 pm 12lbs fish caught at Spreadeagle taking them to 70.

5:04 pm An 11lbs cock fish from Bridge Meadow to charlie Halliday, Lower Usk today, just been reported.

4:56 pm Another from the Nyth today, 10lb slightly coloured hen fish taking their total to 56.

4:04 pm A bright silver fish estimated to be at least 33lb reported caught on fly from the Chapel Catch on the Llangoed beat this morning. 33lb was the weight of the angler's previous best salmon. This one was much bigger!

10:58 am 2 salmon taken at Chainbridge on Sunday, 5lbs grilse taken spinning just below the bridge and a 13lbs colouring cock fish took a small Park Shrimp tube fly on a floating line from The Rocks.

9:07 pm 23lbs to #10 Boyo Dolmeudwy Llanstephan, 12lbs fly to David Rance, Spreadeagle and a 12lbs fish from Glanwye.

5:15 pm A sea-liced 32 inch salmon to Oliver Burch from the Lower Usk this morning, caught on a #8 Bann Shrimp.

9:03 am Fish of 8lbs and 10lbs taken at Coedithel last week, spinning.

9:54 am Graham Paskett reports seeing several fish yesterday at Holme Lacy and the day ticket rod catching a fresh 7.5lbs fresh grilse on a size 10 Stoats Tail taking their total so far this year to 13, their best year since 2001.

2:28 pm Two fish reported from Winforton and taken over the last couple of weeks, one last week by Don Griffiths 12/13lbs (fly) and previously another about 10lbs by Dave Morgan.

2:27 pm Late report of a 26lbs fish for Mike Morrison from the Little Run, Upper Bigsweir last Monday evening to add to the 18lbs hen fish he caught from the Cockpit earlier in the day.

11:26 am Bert Williams caught a 10lb cock fish last Thursday from Craig Du, Glanwye.
