We cannot stress enough the importance of making quick and accurate returns of salmon catches, even if nothing has been caught. Recording catch data is one (perhaps the best, certainly the most cost effective) way of determining the success of our river restoration works. Although affected by short term variations in weather and water conditions, the longer term data set will build an accurate picture of our salmon runs. Catch returns can be made quickly via our online form for both Passport and non-Passport waters. Most of our reporting is from the Wye. Where a salmon has come from another river we will state accordingly.

12:22 pm Another salmon for Stephen Barnes from Glanusk Ty Mawr this morning, 14lbs.

10:30 am Following slight confusion over Keri Watts' salmon report from Glan y Cafn last week, after checking with Keri this morning we can confirm, he landed BOTH salmon and whilst reaching for his forceps attempting to release the 2nd fish without removing it from the water it swam off and unhooked itself in the process. He touched the fish and was holding the leader when this happened.

9:09 am Ceri Watts taking advantage of the new evening ticket scheme took 2 salmon from Glan-y-Cafn yesterday on a rapala.

8:41 am 8lb fish for Stuart Smith on Devon yesterday and Robin Woods had a bar of silver 12lb cock fish from Newbridge on a fly.

7:07 pm A rise from the Ithon severely coloured the Upper Wye below Newbridge today. Encouraging numbers of running fish sighted at Hereford, Moccas, Caermawr and Erwood. They including a number of grilse.

2:38 pm Stephen Barnes reported a 10½lb salmon from Glanusk Tymawr on the Usk this afternoon

9:33 am One more for the Moccas last week.
