We cannot stress enough the importance of making quick and accurate returns of salmon catches, even if nothing has been caught. Recording catch data is one (perhaps the best, certainly the most cost effective) way of determining the success of our river restoration works. Although affected by short term variations in weather and water conditions, the longer term data set will build an accurate picture of our salmon runs. Catch returns can be made quickly via our online form for both Passport and non-Passport waters. Most of our reporting is from the Wye. Where a salmon has come from another river we will state accordingly.

1:29 pm Bigsweir have lifted their total to 156 and are fast catching Wyesham. Very small rise today below Monnow, unlikely to shift many fish. More rain needed badly.

8:41 am 4th August - 2 fish caught and released at Cadora Backs. One cock fish of 10lbs and a silver grilse of 4lbs. A few grilse were seen.

3:48 pm 10lb salmon from Lydbrook yesterday evening.

1:01 pm Coedithiel report 3 more silver fish in 6-10lb class since sunday and a large fish lost after 20mins of play.

12:06 pm Lots of salmon seen yesterday at Upper Bigsweir, and a 22lb pike, caught and safely returned. Apparently it had teeth marks on its rear section!

10:09 am Wayne Tyler has made the most of this water, adding a 15lber from Eardisly on Friday and 6lber from Redbrook on Saturday to his fish from Caermawr on Thursday. A small grilse was reported from Upper Bigsweir on Saturday.
