We cannot stress enough the importance of making quick and accurate returns of salmon catches, even if nothing has been caught. Recording catch data is one (perhaps the best, certainly the most cost effective) way of determining the success of our river restoration works. Although affected by short term variations in weather and water conditions, the longer term data set will build an accurate picture of our salmon runs. Catch returns can be made quickly via our online form for both Passport and non-Passport waters. Most of our reporting is from the Wye. Where a salmon has come from another river we will state accordingly.

12:34 pm 3 salmon from The Rocks (R Wye, just upstream of Builth) on Monday, plus a big double figure fish lost. All 3 were released - 7lb, 8lb & 13lb.
9:47 am 14lb, slightly coloured salmon caught on a spindle fly at Caemawr yesterday evening.

6:50 pm A 5lbs silver grilse to Simon Evans from the Bridge Pool, Gromain this evening
5:04 pm 8lb salmon from the Ferry Pool at Gromain this afternoon. The fish was sealiced.
11:18 am 12lb fish from the Rectory last night and one of 10lbs from Chapel House. Rectory rod reported grilse and salmon running through.

6:04 pm First fish of the season for the Caemawr beat on the Wye near Hay yesterday - 7lb caught by Stuart Smith on a fly.
4:41 pm 17lb fresh hen fish caught on the lower Usk yesterday morning, seen at a local smokehouse at lunchtime. Smokehouse owner reported several other large Usk fish brought in this week.
9:30 am 15lb fresh hen fish caught at Glanwye yesterday evening around 6pm on cascade fly at Glanwye - Duhonw Boards. Released.

9:34 am Just after 8pm last night on the Builth Town Water, Brian Metcalf landed and returned a fresh 7lb salmon. Well done Brian!

6:59 pm Stuart Smith caught the 10th of the season from Upper Bigsweir today. A 12lbs from the cockpit
4:51 pm 3 caught and 2 lost at Wyesham today. A fish of 11lbs for Tim Risdale on a Mepps from New Crib and one of 12.5lbs for Steve Boswell also on a Mepps and another of 10.5lbs on a fly. The 2 fish lost were both hooked on the fly.
4:23 pm First 2 salmon of the season reported from the Pwll-y-Faedda beat on the upper Wye last week. One fly caught, the other to a spinner.
