We cannot stress enough the importance of making quick and accurate returns of salmon catches, even if nothing has been caught. Recording catch data is one (perhaps the best, certainly the most cost effective) way of determining the success of our river restoration works. Although affected by short term variations in weather and water conditions, the longer term data set will build an accurate picture of our salmon runs. Catch returns can be made quickly via our online form for both Passport and non-Passport waters. Most of our reporting is from the Wye. Where a salmon has come from another river we will state accordingly.

Make that 7 from the Nyth yesterday. 4 fish more including a couple of crackers of 27lb (105cm) and 23lb, with a 12lber and and 8lber as well. The 23lber was a very deep hen fish with 'colossal' strength.

Nyth: Three beautiful fish for Chris Ryan before lunch yesterday.12lb, 12lb and 8lb. The 8lb was a bar of silver. All three caught on a small conehead cascade. There seems to have been a pronouced taking time yesterday.

Rectory: 2 for James Kent 10lb and 13lb from the Rock pool, and 1 for Grant Holmes 15lb from the Gravel catch. All caught between 12.15 and 12.45 yesterday. 3 others lost in the morning between 8.30 and 10.30. Outside of those times, v quiet.
