We cannot stress enough the importance of making quick and accurate returns of salmon catches, even if nothing has been caught. Recording catch data is one (perhaps the best, certainly the most cost effective) way of determining the success of our river restoration works. Although affected by short term variations in weather and water conditions, the longer term data set will build an accurate picture of our salmon runs. Catch returns can be made quickly via our online form for both Passport and non-Passport waters. Most of our reporting is from the Wye. Where a salmon has come from another river we will state accordingly.

1:02 pm River conditions are improving all the time on the Upper Wye, many anglers out with high hopes for the next few days. The Lower Wye is still coloured and too high, it's taking a long time to drop. The Usk looks to be running very clear and at a good height on the upper reaches, the bottom end still a bit high but dropping.

2:59 pm Llanover (Usk): a 16 lb fish from Mrs Hughes' Corner today by Simon Jones, the first from the Usk this year.

1:35 pm Usk was looking perfect this morning, but the Upper Wye still has a bit of colour which should have dropped out tomorrow. Some rain forecast for early Friday morning, otherwise dry so looking quite promising for a good height for the rest of this week and over the weekend.
