Ross AC : Yesterday a 22lb cock salmon to Jon Daniels fishing Brighton Rock on Ross AC beat at Weirend. The fish which was covered in sea lice took the black and silver Flying C with a bang. This fish comes after a weekend when Ross members hooked and lost two further salmon in the same Weirend area.

Llangoed & Lower Llanstephan : For Mark Harris, a fresh hen yesterday, caught on a size 8 Metallica fished on a long T11 tip. No measurement taken but 13lb a fair guesstimate.

The Rectory : Hen fish, a shade over 36” to Mark Harris yesterday. Caught on a small Pearly Tosh tube fished on T14.

The spate is now falling away on both rivers and a dry week is forecast. Some lovely fish were caught last week. This is mid April, the prime time to encounter a 3 sea winter springer.

Golden Mile had a 20lb fish on a Devon Minnow yesterday and Ballingham also had a fish. A couple were lost on the upper river.

Spreadeagle : 21lb 5oz fresh cock fish from Adams this morning.

Weirend (Ross Angling) : First salmon for the club this season. Silver fish with no lice. 20.5lb from Hom Pil on a flying C for Richard Woodhouse. Ross gauge at 1.27 metres. Richard was fishing in the dip after one flood with another on its way down the river.

Upper Wye is now down to 2ft 4" which is a lovely height for the higher water pools. Not sure how long it will be through given tomorrows weather forecast.  Beats such as the Speadeagle, the Rectory, Lower Llanstephan, the Nyth and Glanwye all have pools that will fish well tomorrow.

Salmon seen moving through Glanwye yesterday. Both rivers are back in spate and are carrying a large amount of Welsh farmer's soil away.

Aramstone : 18lb (approx) fish on a spinner for Laurence Birken today. Water still on the high side with around 2ft visability. A couple more fish also spotted.

After 9 days of high water, both rivers are now starting to drop back and with a drying weather forecast. The middle Usk and the high water catches on the upper Wye should be be worth a cast this weekend.
