We cannot stress enough the importance of making quick and accurate returns of salmon catches, even if nothing has been caught. Recording catch data is one (perhaps the best, certainly the most cost effective) way of determining the success of our river restoration works. Although affected by short term variations in weather and water conditions, the longer term data set will build an accurate picture of our salmon runs. Catch returns can be made quickly via our online form for both Passport and non-Passport waters. Most of our reporting is from the Wye. Where a salmon has come from another river we will state accordingly.

2:11 pm The Rocks: 2 from Sunday, a 10 lb hen and a 14 lb coloured cock fish. From this morning, a 10 lb hen fish.

11:55 am Chainbridge (Usk): John Lewis reports another fish this morning, of 9 lbs, with a larger one lost before. This afternoon he's had a 12/13 lb clean hen fish. All caught on Spinner.

11:03 am Chainbridge (Usk): John Philips had an 18-20 lbs Hen fish yesterday, and John Lewis had a 5 lb fish this morning.

10:33 am Edwinsford (Cothi): An 11 lbs Salmon was caught on Sunday by Neil Robbins on a Flying C in the Top Croy.

7:11 am Spreadeagle: Strong 9lb hen in good condition on fly , one other lost river clearing down after flood for David Thompson. 3 more fish reported since.

7:58 pm Whitney: 10Lb fresh-ish hen fish from Beat 3 this morning, yellow and black tube fly for Tony Perrin

1:16 pm Bigsweir: 10 in the first half of September taking them to 146 for the season. They were catching at around a fish a day, but not fished since last Wednesday due to high water.

3:40 pm Kemey's Commander (Usk): Hen fish of 8 lbs and 10 lbs caught this morning on a 1.5" plastic tube fly fished deep for Richard Woodhouse. Both swimming off strongly on release, a good number of other fish seen.

10:18 am Edwinsford (Cothi): Fresh 6 lb Salmon in the Sheep Dip on a Willy Gun Tube for James Philipps yesterday.

2:45 pm Swan Meadow (Usk): Two fish from the last two days, a 9 lb and a 22 lb, one on fly and one on spinner. Swan meadow also have availability in their cottages for this weekend while the Abergavenny food festival is on.

1:26 pm Goodrich: Mike Bacon caught the first fish, approx 11lbs cock fish, slightly coloured, on a small cascade on The Maddox pool. Paul Henry then caught an approx 13lbs cock fish from The Stones with a Silver Stoat's Tail. One other fish lost. Perfect conditions.

12:16 pm Edwinsford (Cothi): From Sunday through to yesterday, three fish of 8, 9 and 11 lbs. River levels currently at excellent height on the Cothi.

2:50 pm Chainbridge (Usk): From saturday, a strong salmon hen of 10 lbs for Nick Clewlow.
