We cannot stress enough the importance of making quick and accurate returns of salmon catches, even if nothing has been caught. Recording catch data is one (perhaps the best, certainly the most cost effective) way of determining the success of our river restoration works. Although affected by short term variations in weather and water conditions, the longer term data set will build an accurate picture of our salmon runs. Catch returns can be made quickly via our online form for both Passport and non-Passport waters. Most of our reporting is from the Wye. Where a salmon has come from another river we will state accordingly.

4:10 pm Gromain, Ferry Pool: Fish caught today by Brian Skinner, approx 12 - 13 lbs, with another of a similar size lost just upstream.

12:56 pm Redbrook: Late report of a 12 lb fish from Wednesday, this one caught on a Sunray by Simon MacLucas.

12:06 pm Red Lion/Moccas: 38 inch long and slightly coloured fish, estimated at 23+lb. It was taken yesterday on a gold hammered spoon, single hook, and 9ft cane rod by Laurence Staynings.

3:11 pm Wyastone Crown: 3 salmon for Gareth Woolway on Saturday, 8lb and 2 x 12 pounders, all on a Cascade tube.

11:41 am Lower Symonds Yat, Slaughter Pool: On Saturday, Corrado Benassi caught a salmon estimated at 20lbs (94cm) on a 'Willie Gunn' tube fly, double hook. Returned safely. Many fish seen rising on this stretch of the river during the morning.
