Sea Trout Catches

7:31 pm Golden Grove: Best May for a decade. 50 sewin reported with an average weight of over 6lbs. Double figure fish were caught by Dan Edwards (16lb), Neil Thomas (12lb, 10lb, 10lb), Wayne Matthews (12.5lb, 10lb), Rene Alleyne (11lb) and David Jones (11lb).

7:29 pm Golden Grove: opened season with a 15.5lb sewin for Barry Stearn on a fly which won fish of the month in Trout and Salmon. 4 more sewin were caught in April.

9:22 am Abercothi: several fish taken so far, largest 8lbs

1:24 pm River Towy - Golden Grove: Sept 8 - 11lb sewin from the Orca, Glanyrafon, 9lb and 7lb from Purgatory, Cilsane. A further 20 sewin were also caught over the weekend up to 4 lbs.
Sept 4 - 9lb, 7lb and 6lb sewin caught last night, also a further 6 fish up to 3 lbs. River now at a summer level night fishing giving you your best chance
Sept 3 - 11lb Salmon, 7lb & 6lb sewin caught over the weekend. Also a further 10 Sewin up to 3lbs. 215 Sewin caught in August.
Over 400 Sewin have now been caught this year with 88% of these returned and 32 double figure fish caught.

1:20 pm River Towy - Llangadog: Friday 5th Sept, Matthew Bird, 7 sea trout around 2-3lbs and 3 lost in an excellent nights fishing. A few larger fish also heard.

1:17 pm River Towy - Llangadog: Thursday 4th Sept, 2 sea trout 2.5-3lbs to Dai Watkins and a few lost. Nice to see some fish around finally.

11:31 am River Towy - Golden Grove: 19 sewin Sunday night fishing 8 rods over 3 beats. Best fish were 9, 8, 6.5, 5, 5, 3.5 and 3lbs and some smaller fish. Also 6lb salmon. Pics can be found on The Fish Passports Facebook page 'The Fishing Passport'

11:24 am River Towy - Golden Grove: Over 25 Sewin caught over the weekend. Phil Bissmiere with 6 fish 9, 8 and 5lbs and 3 smaller ones all from Rofawr. James Forsyth with 4 fish including his first double, a superb fish 13.5lbs from the Goldmines Cilsane as well as fish of 3.5lbs and 3lbs. James Wallwork had a Salmon of 6lbs and two Sewin over 3lbs from the Stakes Rofawr.
Golden Grove has now had over 410 sewin for the season including 32 doubles and over 88% of these returned.

2:50 pm River Towy - Llangadog Angling: Llangadog Angling have been holding free fishing lessons for juniors (adults welcome also) over the last few weeks (advertised on Llangadog's Facebook Page 'Llangadog Angling Limited'). Last Friday evening saw young Ifan Davies catch his first ever sea trout (sewin) with his Dad Aled, below Llandeilo Bridge. A special moment caught on video, also on Llangadog's Facebook page and worth a watch. That evening, 3 sea trout to 3lbs, 2 brown trout and a flounder were caught between 6.30pm and 9pm. A great result again!

9:25 am River Towy - Golden Grove: 7 sea trout this morning already to spinner on a falling spate. More details to follow.

9:16 am River Towy - Llangadog Angling: Two fish of 2lbs and 2.5lbs last night from Crewil Pool and the Cattle Drink Pool respectively, both on the Jambo fly.

1:53 pm River Towy - Llangadog Angling: Dai Watkins caught and released a slightly colouring 9lb hen fish on Monday night on a Jambo surface lure. A few other smaller fish to 2.5lbs were also caught. Pictures can be found on Llangadog's Facebook Page 'Llangadog Angling Limited'

11:54 am River Towy - Llandovery AA: July catches include sea trout of 9lbs, 2lbs and 2lbs 12oz to Chairman Rob Salt, Adrian Thomas had a sea trout of 4.5lbs and 2 brown trout 3lbs.

11:44 am River Towy - Abercothi: 4 sea trout to 5lbs last night of the Cothi Junction Pool. There are a lot of small sea trout in the river at the moment which is encouraging.

11:07 am River Towy - Golden Grove:
29th July - Andrew Flitcroft 12.5lbs sewin, Glanyrafon.
30th July - Andrew Flitcroft 8.5lbs sewin, Cilsane .
3rd Aug - Neil Thomas 5 Sewin upto 8lbs from Cilsane. Phil Davies 4 Sewin upto 3.5lbs and a salmon of 8lbs also from Cilsane.
5th Aug - Phil Dickson had a sewin of 12lbs 10oz from the Whistle Pool Cilsane followed by 10 sewin to 7lbs from Glanyrafon.
7th Aug - Adrian Batty had a days fishing to remember catching 14 sewin from Rofawr to 4lbs .
8th Aug - Phil Jones 4lbs from Paradise Flats, Cilsane.
Over 50 Sewin already caught in Aug, all returned.
Over 88% of Golden Grove fish have been returned this year.

1:55 pm River Towy - Llangadog: Several fish caught last week to 6lbs, the Jambo surface lure producing the goods at night. Reasonable numbers of fish being seen and heard, things should improve now the estuary nets are finally off.

1:54 pm River Towy - Abercothi: Last week's notable fish were an 8lb sewin from Golian Pool, Llochgwyn, 7lb sewin from Log Pool and 7lb 8oz sewin from Ffinant plus many smaller fish. Plenty of fish in the system now the nets are off.

1:52 pm River Towy - Golden Grove: 14.5lb Sewin from Rofawr, 12.5lb Sewin from Glanyrafon and 8.5lb Sewin from Cilsane all caught last week. 15 smaller Sewin up to 4lbs caught over the weekend and an 8lb Salmon caught yesterday.

4:43 pm River Towy - Golden Grove: 16 nice sea trout were caught towards the end of last week, the majority 1-3lbs but some larger. Mike Timmis and Anthony Braithwaite had their first experience sea trout fishing - catching 5 fish over two nights up to 8lbs from Cilsane and Glanyrafon. Paul Slayney with 3 fish up to 5lbs from Cilsane. Ross James 3 fish up to 4lbs.

4:42 pm River Towy - Abercothi: End of last week saw a reasonable shoal of sea trout in the 1-3lbs glass push through the nets and resulted in around 40 fish being caught over 2 nights fishing. They appear to have passed through now.

4:03 pm River Towy - Golden Grove: 10lbs sea trout from The Pipes Pool last night.

9:29 am River Towy - Golden Grove: 6.5lbs to Dai Williams on Monday night. Things appear to have quietened down due to the warm weather and water conditions. Hopefully the rain forecast will freshen things up over the weekend.

9:32 am River Towy - Llandovery AA: 1 x 3.5lb sewin caught last week and four lost. 1 large fish caught on the next beat down river.
