Ideal conditions with the water level just below the croys, however didn't see any salmon nor catch any.

River low and clear. Fished hard with no sign of Salmon all day. Good sport with Grayling; caught over 10 in 2hrs on a single dry fly I found in the boot of my car. Hey, why bother with other thousand flies left home if this one works?!

Our last day on this trip and we would like to thank the girls in the office for suggesting this beat. We fished it from 9am until 2pm so we didn't manage to fish the whole beat as well as we would have liked to, but the fishing was fantastic. We caught numerous trout and grayling, again nothing massive ,but lots of fun, especially the grayling. Biggest grayling was about 3/4 lb and best trout about 1lb. I would like to add that we stayed in a B&B in Glasbury (Aberllynfi House). It overlooked the Wye and the owners were very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast sets you up for the day!!! Strongly recommended.
Many thanks again to The W and U girls!!

Conditions: Cool (9-12/14 degress C), light breeze, with intermittent downstream wind throughout the day until 15:00, mostly bright and sunny with a few short downpours and then rather calm from 16:00 to 18:00 (main hatch of Yellow May, see below). River clear and very beautiful.
Catch: 19 grayling and six trout. Most grayling around the 3/4lb to 1lb mark with one strong fish to 2lb. Trout mostly 10” to 11“, one to 12”. A few WBT parr. Fish taken throughout the beat, excluding the Stone Catch. Morning fish on a two fly upstream nymph cast (gold head GRHE (18) and heavier nymph (various; 14 to 12), all taking the smaller fly; and a few on the dry Adams (14). All afternoon fish on Adams /CDC variant (16/14). Very positive takes, the fly matching (in size) a nice hatch of Yellow May (I think). Various (smaller) upwinged flies hatching (but in smaller numbers). All fish in pristine condition, and exceedingly lively. All quickly and safely returned.
Pollution: quite a few golf balls (removed), these also on Ty-Newdd.

Other: One dead roach seen in Edw Pool. A large salmon resting at the bottom of the Edw Pool.

A wonderful days fishing. Many thanks to the WUF for two lovely days fishing. Keep up the excellent work.

13 x grayling 8-15 inches, 9 x trout 6-9 inches, on dries and spiders.
Rather a strange day. A cold wind all the time, with bright sun giving way to cloud and a few showers. The morning was really difficult with absolutely no fish coming to the surface and large amounts of weed floating down. In fact the river was rising, as I realised when I stuck a stick in the margin. This freshet was due to heavy rain in central Wales the night before - but the water was not colouring at all. Checking the webcam trace when I got home, I found it rose 6 inches during the morning and then dropped around 3 inches during the afternoon. As the river began to fall, the grayling woke up to some extent and I had some sport. However they were really picky about fly patterns and there was much boiling under the fly or otherwise coming short. There were a few dark olives...and willow fly...about, everything grey, and the patterns which worked to some extent were Grayling Steel Blue, Grey Duster and Waterhen Bloa

Nil return. Water fairly low although a few salmon moved in Lady Alexander's Catch. Pal contented himself with chasing the grayling and trout and had amazing sport with lots of fish up to 1 1/2lb of both species.

River running clear at 1' on the gauge. One silvery fish repeatedly showing but no contact all day despite hard fishing. Good day on the river, lack of catch balanced with very pleasant company. Thank you.
