1 x 4lb sewin (sea trout) and 2 x 3lb Chub caught by A.D. Trout caught at the start of the beat, the Chub in the pools by the rocks at the far end of the beat. 13 x Brown Trout of sizes 3/4lb to 2lb caught in the central part of the river.
WUF Note: a photo has confirmed this was almost certainly a sewin that had been in the river for a couple of weeks.

Fished pm and early evening. Inclement weather including rain and high wind meant hatches lasted minutes. One fish each caught, one small brown and one brown of approx 12 inches, to nymph and klink respectively. River had autumnal debris, presumably due to slight rise and debris blown on to water. The odd fish was rising, but klink brought fish up.

With very little water in the river it made for an interesting day. 10 fish caught between the three of us, the largest a brownie of 10oz and a grayling of 1lb (all returned). Abernant is a stunning location to spend a days fishing.

Difficult day with a strong upstream wind. Managed 5 trout 9-12” on CDC Dry Hares Ear. Failed to tempt fish to nymphs but GH Tadpole Black proved to be good choice catching me another 4 WBT and a couple of parrs. Big brownie (4-5lbs) spotted in the depths by the rock. Grayling rising to god-knows-what. Several hours and fifty flies later I hooked one grayling on greenwells glory (winged) #18, second cast – second grayling, third cast – snapped fly on bigger fish and having nothing to replace dry I called it a day.

Dozen trout and OOS grayling to 12". Not a great deal of visible activity but about half fish caught on the surface to small black emerger patterns. A very enjoyable beat.

Nice setting, very low water. 4 small trout (to 7 inches)and a few out of season grayling. Most taken on parachute Adams. Various families skimmming stones from opposite bank and 2 canoeists made an appearance during the afternoon-the joys of a bank holiday weekend in the sun.
