Lovely day on the river, but leafy later on. Both micro Grayling!

2 Grayling

Water was quite flooded out from all the rain making access to wade near impossible except along the margins on the main stretch. Challenging day one grayling on a pink tag up against the bank. No signs of life for the rest of the day.
Loads of leaves and logs washing through. Two orange white water rafts with 6 folks on each came paddling through the beat early afternoon.

Great day on the river, attrocious fishing.

1 Grayling

no salmon seen or caught. Leaves aplenty in the river!

6 Grayling, all on the smaller side. Taken on a mix of duo (PTN on the dropper) and euronymph. Also moved two to the dry fly but failed to hoot up. One out of season BT, returned swiftly.

A Salmon leapt three times at the bottom of Lady Alexander's Catch (or three fish?!), just after the Salmon fisherman who submitted the return below had been through the pool and moved on!

One Cock Salmon 14lbs caught and returned using 11/2inch. Cascade tube. Ghillie very helpful.

What a wonderful stretch, Euro nymphing worked well. Big fish, very obliging. Great day

3 Trout, 20 Grayling

We arrived to a crisp morning with some cloud cover. The river was crystal clear but surprised us as it was lower than we'd hoped. Fished the entire beat and saw only one salmon rise, just off the pebble beach on Abernant Stream. The beat itself has improved thanks to work on the path up to Edw Pool; still a challenge but no longer life-threatening! And it is very pretty too. Met the owner and her partner; both charming and friendly. We will be back!
