A bit of a struggle given the low, clear water and few fish rising. However, we did manage some small fish on both dry flies and nymphs. At least the conditions meant my colleague was able to find his car keys, having unknowingly dropped them into the river - we'd spent an hour searching for them along the track and bank...
Stayed at the excellent Cammarch Hotel, Llangammarch Wells. Also gives you the opportunity for some pre-breakfast fishing on the River Irfon.

A day of two halves - cold, overcast and quite windy in the morning, clear blue skies and a baking sun in the afternoon. Fish don't like either really, very few showing, and those that did, were grayling. Combined with the low water level, it made for a hard day. Never mind, there's always tomorrow!

Fished with my good fiend M B, who is even less experienced than me at fly fishing
Arrived at around 8:30 the river very low, weather cloudy with a cold down stream wind.
I started at the very bottom of the beat and M a little further up.
For me it was very hard going with to start, the wind hampered my casting and any fish that did show I couldn't cover. Then around 10:30 the sun came out and stayed out, and with it an enormous hatch of gnats and a few small mayfly.
I fished the clink and dink but despite casting at every fish I saw only two went for the dry, one was missed and the other lost.
I caught 2 graying one about 10 inches the other 4, and two trout also 10 inches and 4.
All of my fish were take on a GRHE.
M had two very small trout on a dry, which he persevered with all day.
The most surprising thing was that despite the fly life there were only sporadic rises, and fish rarely rose in the same place twice.
I did see quite a few nice fish but they just seemed to be cruising all over the place rather than staying on station.
A lovely day on a beautiful beat, would love to fish this place when they're on the feed!

Found the beat hard work today, level low, lots of slime and algae and a wind that at times made casting nigh on impossible. Not a single rising fish. Three small trout to wet flies in the faster, oxygenated water. Rain required.

River was very clear and conditions not helped by strong downstream wind. Arrived around 3.30 to see a few fish rising, within an hour nothing showing and very little sign of fly life.
Had one grayling on an Emerger. Nice looking stretch, will try again when the weather picks up.

Fabulous day on the Wye which was very low, the weather chilly and overcast. On arriving I spotted fish topping in the deep water at the bottom of the first field so made my way down, I had one on a dry after a lot of effort and decided I should be catching more so switched to a Klinkhamer with a gold head hares ear underneath and took another on the hares ear. Decided to make my way up stream to the faster water and found fish taking olives off the surface, I switched to a traditional style dry and didn't stop catching, fantastic dry fly fishing. I had a break to explore the rest of the beat and lost a small trout before returning to the fast water and taking trout after trout, I lost count but quite easily had 18+ and two out of season Grayling.
A day to remember thank you WUF.
