Very nice beat with good access. The water was very low when we fished but the chub were feeding and easy to catch, although average weight was less than a pound. Two barbel caught late afternoon on sweetcorn. other fish were 4 dace, one perch and an eel.
We had a bizarre incident during the day. One of our group reeled in his rod to help another of the group land a barbel, leaving it on the bank with the bait(artificial corn) still on the hook. When he returned after 10 minutes the rod had vanished. Unless it had been stolen by a group of passing kayakers, which seems unlikely, we can only surmise that the bait had been taken by a swan which had then dragged the rod into the water before breaking free. Moral of the story is I guess, never leave a rod unattended even if the bait is not in the water!

Just an evening session. First visit to this stretch so spent some time looking around before dropping into a swim opposite the house. Caught two barbel and a chub on pellet feeder and krill boilies and lost another barbel when the hooklink snagged a rock on the take. That seemed to kill the swim as bites stopped.
