Area:Tees

Beat:Barnard Castle

Fishing:Trout (River)

No. of Anglers:1

Low water levels and difficult conditions. A few fish were lost, in addition to the two landed. The fish landed were caught on small streamers.
A mink was sighted hunting along the edge of the river, downstream of the castle, behind the houses at the bottom of town.
An enjoyable afternoon, thank you.

Fished the beach section of the lower end of the beat.
Very hard going.
Beautiful day with some cloud cover. Water looked pacey but was low.
Tried all methods and all baits but fish not feeding.
Lovely beat though and quite accessible. Will try again when conditions more favourable.

Area:Taff

Beat:Taff Fechan

Fishing:Trout (River)

No. of Anglers:1

Great stretch of the Taff. Warm, light breeze, crystal clear water, some fly life but few rises. Arrived at 3.30pm. Walked over foot bridge and down left hand bank to the old stome viaduct then fished back up stream. Fish in each of the decent sized pools all caught on dries (small black/green). Beautiful fish none more than 6-7ins in size. Will fish this beat again.

Area:Lower Wye

Beat:Middle Hill Court

Fishing:Coarse

No. of Anglers:2

Disappointing day only one easy access to a swim with any depth of water and that was taken by another party. Lots of beautifil river but with no accesable swims to fish. Eventually found a swim that we could get to and even that was a bit of a challange to climb down. Not recommended for auld codgers !! 1 other was an eel

Area:Middle Wye

Beat:The Creel

Fishing:Coarse

Very windy making float fishing tricky. Chub came steadily through the day mainly to feeder tactics, one small barbel at the death.

1 Barbel, 20 Chub
