Fished opposite the weir garden on a warm hot sunny day, fished from 9am and caught 1 chub between 9am and 6pm (this was with the warm hot conditions). But from 6pm until 8pm, the fishing improved as the heat dropped which meant the fish were feeding and managed to catch 4 chub with the biggest weighing 4lb and 2 barbel of which the biggest weighed 8lb. On the last catch I managed to catch a 6lb pike on a halibut pellet which I was very surprised about. Fished feeder tactics throughout the day. Lovely stretch of river. will be definitely returning in the near future.

Wasn't very optimistic, low clear water high temperatures, not a cloud in the sky. Non-stop action all day, apart from following some canoeists who had a ghetto blaster at full volume and a large school party in canoes some of whom decided to come ashore. I thought that was it for an hour or so, but that definitely was not the case. Great day thanks WUF.

Hard going on Lower Canon Bridge Saturday. River low and clear. Made fish spotting much easier, but only saw a few fish in the new weir area. Had one chub up until 12noon, which wasn't great as I started at 4am. Went back to the river at 5pm and spotted a few chub moving. Ended up with 1 barbel 5.5lb and 9 chub to 4lb. This is a very picturesque beat and the upper section was completely carpeted with flowering water crowfoot, stunning. Spoke to the farmer he was very helpful as to beat accses.

The final day of our 5 day trip, again the river was low and clear and as on several occasions this week proved very peggy with most of the barbel coming from one swim opposite the wier gardens. Barbel to 7lb 10oz and chub to 5lb 2oz on pellets and boilies. One disappointing aspect was that again as on several occasions this week we had to clear rubbish and discarded line left by previous anglers. If people can't be bothered taking their rubbish home with them they would be better off finding a new sport as they're not wanted in ours. Once again many thanks to all at wuf for their efficient service and the valuable work they do, we'll be back!
WUF Note: We would like to support strongly the sentiments expressed about litter and discarded tackle in this catch return. Anglers must take it home with them. It is unsightly and a threat to wildlife and farm animals. There is a risk of fisheries being withdrawn from day tickets as a result.

Again first time on this beat. River was low and clear with hot clear blue skies above. Plenty of Fish in the river but just not interested in feeding. Fished approx 10am to 6pm so not ideal. If you see previous report on this stretch anglers fished well into the evening and given the conditions this is what we should have done to give a better chance of catching fish.
A beautiful stretch of river but essential to get a lift off the farmer as it's a long walk. Thanks W&U we had a lovely day in a beautiful setting.

A great afternoons sport on one of the most scenic WUF coarse fishing beats. The long (1/2 mile) walk is well worth it - just don't take a lot of gear with you!
Barbel from 4lb - 8lb, all on simple pellet and cage feeder tactics. Most chub 3 - 4lb. Plenty of bites missed and fish lost.
CT - 5 barbel, 7 chub, TH - 4 barbel, MM - 3 barbel
RD - 1 chub.
The first two anglers fished from 2.30 pm to 9.15 pm, the second pair arrived at 6.30 pm, fished to 9.30 pm. Plenty of swims here for 4 fishermen.

Top end of the beat is very pretty with great views of the weir gardens and excellent access, with the lower end proving a bit tricky to get to.
I lost a couple of fish to the large weedbeds they were hiding under, even on stepped up floodwater tackle but managed to land 5 Barbel and 7 Chub. All fish were taken on standard feeder tactics with hemp, mixed pellet and groundbait.
