Caught a trout and a dace trotting maggots at the top end, moved down a few swims and caught a pristine chub around 3lbs. Moving further down got the pike rod out and dropped a run first cast, followed by a healthy fight with a 10lber that tail walked and stripped line off me. Saw barbel rolling and really enjoyed the short but very fishy looking stretch. I understand people moaning it's overgrown, but it's all accessible in reality and actually a proper treat to feel like you're the first to fish it. I'd go back tomorrow, to listen to the total silence if nothing else. Thanks WUF.

A thoroughly disappointing day! Though we know this stretch of the Wye from years gone by and are aware that the fishing is never easy we were surprised and dejected to receive not so much as a bite all day.
Plenty of fish were moving but seemed unwilling to feed despite heavy groundbaiting and a variety of hookbaits.
Still these things happen and we shall be back to what is a great looking beat even if dense undergrowth does make finding safe swims difficult

Very pleasant spot with good hardstanding parking in farmyard and short walk to swims. Not many accessible swims though and river rather straight. Lashing rain all day, river rising.
One chub at 3lb on pellet.

Fishing extremely difficult with nothing caught and very few takes, no doubt the scorching weather played its part. We know this beat from many years ago and are fully aware of its potential so the day was very much an 'off' day.
The beat itself is marvellous with a number of fishable swims along its length. Flow is generally on the slow side with slightly faster water at the upstream end of the beat.
An enjoyable if fishless day

River running somewhat high/fast and cloudy and weather windy with occasional shower setting more wet in the evening. Impossible to hold bottom except close in. Still, an enjoyable days fishing in a lovely spot. Canoes caused no problems and all were friendly/polite.
CM - 4 fish - 1 barbel (a PB of 8lbs) and 3 chub 1x4lb, 3x3lb. NW 0 and no bites!
Thanks WUF, we will be back - hopefully with a little less water present.

Started fishing midday in warm overcast conditions, but rain moved in from about 2pm and temperature dropped. River rose about 12" to 18" during day. Caught 4 barbel on a variety of ledgered baits and 1 chub. Fairly long walk to river from parking space.
WUF provides an efficient service which enables ordinary anglers access to fish one of the country's great rivers.
