No fish caught

River extremely low. However, rain on the way and a surprising number of residents showing, although no takers today.

A lovely day practising my spey casting and improving my snap T, and I think my D loop is now a thing of beauty! Alas, no salmon put it to the test, which was surprising, especially as I was using Geoff Franks' flies. A few fish showed, but their splashy presence didn't appear to indicate taking fish - well they didn't take my flies anyway. Not even MIck, the Goodrich Guru, could put me onto a fish. It's still a lovely beat though. Next time!

Fished from 6 am after a 4 am start from Swansea. My mobility is not what it used to be but find fishing down the Maddox around the corner down to Vanstone OK with help of the large waterside stones which makes easy access and even allows spey casting while sitting.
Will be back. Only one un-catchable fish showed on corner .

Mick guided us for the morning. Excellent company, definitely recommend for anyone unfamiliar with the beat. His knowledge and experience v interesting. River had strange tinge, despite being good height (0.34).
As for salmon eerily quiet, think similar story for all beats above Monmouth. Sporadic hatch of canoes started about 10.30.

River carrying some colour still and overhead conditions excellent. Saw one fish in the Vanstones but despite some confidence not a touch. My search for a Wye Salmon continues!
