Double-handed fly rod. A lot of blanket weed and algae, so viability not good. No fish seen. Despite that, I had a great day; thanks to Mick Sutton, the Ghillie. He has intimate knowledge of the water and is great company. I look forward to returning when water conditions are better and there are salmon coming through.

Mick the Ghillie has done a great job putting in steps and clearing swims. River low and clear few canoeists about. One going upstream did not help. No luck today. Great information from Mick on where and how to fish. Thanks

First time on this lovely beat and very friendly ghillie.
Worked the beat through twice throughout the day with no fish seen. From 6pm until dusk there was quite a bit of movement in Vanstone but could not be tempted on the fly. Will be back after some much needed rain.

2 salmon seen

Fished on the fly 0730 to 1330 - dry set-up. River quite low for this time of year. Some sightings of fish by other anglers on the beat.

No fish seen or caught. A pleasure to be out in the May sunshine.

River too high and dirty, unfishable.
