River at 0.2m on EA Ross gauge after long steady drop and water at 56°F. River was the lowest I’ve seen at this time of year – 2ft below stone walkway along the Maddox / Vanstone. First rain showers for a couple of weeks overnight dirtied the water slightly and gave a 2” lift during the day. Fished floating line, ½” black silver tubes and #8 shrimps. Several 10-15lb size fish jumped / rolled in the neck and further down Vanstone Pool repeatedly throughout the day – but I could not tempt them.

Although the river is low much of the water still looked very attractive and we fished it all pretty thoroughly with the fly. Didn't try spinning. Sadly no fish, nor any sign of one. Hoping for rain soon to liven things up before my next visit in early June.

Two fish seen, very bright. Nil return.

Lovely spring day but the water a bit low. My friend had a strong pull in the Vanstone and I had to settle for a good chub to a Willie Gun at the bottom of the Maddox pool.

I entered a catch return the same day - don't know why it hasn't registered. One good pull in the Vanstone - where a few salmon were showing and a Chub from the bottom of Maddox on a Willie Gun.

Nice beat Mike put me on the fish again but no pulls

Mick the gillie was very helpful, but unfortunately no signs of running fish.

Several fish seen, including the bright bar of silver of approx. 12lb, that left me with slack line after its second leap out of the water! Hooked on a Geoff Franks Cascade tube fly on a fast sinking leader. The water was quite cold, and the wind was quite strong. Always a pleasure to fish this well tended beat. Thank you again, Mick.
