Frustrating day with little in the way of rises until late evening and then couldn't get them to take any of my offerings! Had one on the nymph late afternoon but feel my technique may not be right for this river, both on the dry and when nymphing.

If anyone is willing to share some tips / give advice, it would be greatly appreciated.

Very unusual day, two trout hooked one lost. Very few risking fish and very few takes throughout the day, despite plenty of fly life. Accidental shad caught in a range of different pools.

Another first in fishing this beat and the website description matches exactly….. beautiful and secluded…. and a good walk down hill to the river, followed by a trudge back up at the end of the session. Phew!
Anyway, stuck with duo today which saw 3 to the nymph and one to the dropper. Wading was a challenge, partly because it was a new beat and therefore unknown, but the bedrock undulations and deep gullies made it very interesting! Good job I brought the wading stick! Some nice glides where I took the fish. Probably didn’t cover the deeper gullies so well with duo, but still lovely to be out on another wild stream beat. The trout were stunning and the grayling (as usual) like a bar of soap to hold on to! Trout markings notably different to my local Arrow fish which have mire buttery hue and stunning red spots. Still special fish on the Irfon though.

River running quite low and not many insects on the river. There were a couple of rises on the middle flats, but the fish were not too interested in my fly.

Managed to catch a small trout at the top end of the beat. Called it a day when the sunshine came as the fish have no doubt struggled over the last couple of days.

Tougher day, quite windy. 3 decent fish, one of which was 2 pound. All on the dry. Lower section of beat.
