Made an early start before temperature climbed. I was near the top gate and noticed some people on the river at stone catch assumed they were the owners but no car and the lodge was locked up. No one else booked on the beat….one to watch out for perhaps

Early morning session due to extreme heat started at 5am water temp 21 deg chub first cast then pretty much constant bites until I finished at 11-30,chub ranged from approximately 3lb up to 5lb 8oz groundbait feeder with pellet and hemp and meat on the hook accounted for all of the fish. The path to the far end of the fishery is very overgrown with brambles protruding across many places and could possibly do with a strim to make access less hazardous.

Lovely little beat though a tough day due to bright sunshine, low water levels and lots of dog walkers. 3 wild brownies taken on a dun dry fly. Lots of trout present though very spooky

Great morning on a great beat till families started showing up and swimming in the deeper pools but tbh I was done by then and who am I to deny them a swim on a warm day. Seen at least 15 - 20 rises is various areas but tucked way underneath low hanging branches. Found a nice deep pool with good rises every 2-3 mins so offered them a size 20 parachute Adams and got two 8-10” brownies then another later on with the same fly.

Weather hot and sunny 30 °c
Water temp was 24 °c
Only fished the afternoon on account of the hot conditions
Saw plenty of carp cruising around and not lethargic either but they wasn't feeding
Caught 2 nice bream down by the Oak tree tho
And at sunset as the light faded i had a screaming run and hooked a beautiful common carp in excellent condition a real long lean fish of around 17lbs
Didn't even get it on the bank it was unhooked in the net and despite a great fight it absolutely shot off giving me a soaking too
One of my favourite locations to fish
I will be back !

River quite low at dent bank and the fish were in pockets. Dry flies pulled them up, with a couple of the total a very decent size. Better when there is a little rain a couple of days before though.

Another hot and bright day, but water temperature ok (about 16 C) and the fish prepared to rise opportunistically. 6 grayling to 14", and 3 trout to 12", on owner Shaun's generic dry/emerger (14) and mainly on Euro-nymph. I'm sure I could have caught a lot more on the latter if I'd been competent.

3 Trout, 6 Grayling
