Conditions seemed ok, but we didn't see or feel a fish. An excellent beat, with some pools that make casting quite easy for my 12 year old son.

Very small coloured fish, around 4lb from Upper end of beat on small fly. No fish showing but river in lovely condition.

Nil return, a few fish showing in Vanstone early but without a great deal of conviction. Upper pools very quiet. Mick not so quiet!

5.5 lb male salmon on Collie Dog from Vanstone Pool, Goodrich Court at 18.20.

10lb fish slightly coloured caught in Dog Hole on a back and red tube fly. A few canoes but also three wet suited swimmers towing floating bouys!

The river at a good height and a few fish showing especially in the Vanstone, the upper Wires and the Dog Hole. Apart from one good chase at the lower Vanstone we didn't get much response.
Access is improved since my last visit and it is a lovely beat to fish, with the wading being particularly easy on gravel.
I lost my net above the wires seeing it drift off just tantalizingly faster than I could wade to catch it. My second sacrifice to the river Gods this year.
