Second time in less than two weeks. Felt we could have caught fish with every cast but sadly no salmon but did catch two cracking trout about 3lbs and one of about a pound. Will certainly return when the level drops off a little as the whole beat is a joy to fish.

Water clearing nicely but a blank day. Possibly one fish seen splashing at the top of Lines.

We saw a dead kelt of about 2'6" on the bank of Maddox. It was half eaten - otter or mink I would guess.

River looked great, high hopes only to result in a total failure on my part but that's fishing for you.

Fished down left bank from the top from 0900, spinning as water level was quite high (1'6') but falling - wading is ok but banks are wet mud so take care. Island fishing well, good for fly or spinners. Kelt caught & returned on spinner (red flying C) - 28 inches long / 7lbs in The Maddox in early pm - just where the notes say the hot-spot is located, 15-20 yards downstream of the rocks. Had a tug or two on the fly in the Vanstone later in the afternoon. Sunny, windy but not much rain - looking forward to my next outing.

Excellent fly water but a tad on the high side. Caught a surprise 12 or so pound pike and a 7lb kelt on the fly. Other than caught fish I didn't see others. Did though sit and watch kites, buzzards, a mink and canoes.

Fly & spinning for salmon, but failed to catch any! However a 10-12lb pike took a black flying C at the Corner Tree pool just on the lip of the bankside rocks. Good, strong, health fish, it was returned to the water.
Otherwise, the river was quite high and would we think have fished better with slighly less water and more clarity.

Water still coloured but significantly better than 6 days ago and a lot lower.
One fish, probably a trout on for a couple of seconds on Stones.
Under the guidance of approved WUF Guide Oliver Burch one hen Kelt, 30 inches or a tad bigger caught in the Lines Pool on a black Flying C. One other fish seen jumping.
When the debris is removed, the tree thinning in progress will be a big improvement for wading and access.
