River was extremely low the only swim we could access was near the top of the beat so a really slow day. Beautiful stretch of the Wye but with river so low most of the swims were not easily accessible for auld codgers. !! The 2 others were Eels

River unsurprisingly quite low and very sunny, fish pretty spooky, although a few visible of a good size (around 12”). Lovely day on the river but no catch to show for it. Access is near downstream end, so tricky not to spook out runs on the way up - would be great to be able to get in nearer the upstream end. Lovely spot though.

Fished swims along the whole stretch. You could have walked across the river for most of it.
Could see chub swimming around on the surface but they weren't to be fooled. Managed a few on float fished meat and ledgered pellet towards the evening. A beautiful and peaceful stretch that I can't wait to see with a bit of water on

Fish from 5-7.30pm. All fish caught using wet fly in the faster water at the head of LA catch and Abernant stream pools. Biggest trout around 1.5lb, grayling around 1lb.

I only fished for a couple of hours as the water is so low it made things very challenging. One small grayling caught and a few nicer brown trout spooked!

After an early season cosseted on Cotswold Trout streams, it would good to get back to a wild river. Not there was that much wild about the Lugg today - in my 20 plus years of fishing it, I have never seen it so low. In spite of the lack of water, it retained a reasonable flow, and fished well; with most of my fish coming from faster water. A couple of risers on a Klinkhammer - with everything else on an Endrick Spider
