The river was carrying more colour than I was anticipating but cleared through the day. No fish touched, saw a couple of grilse right at the bottom of the beat.

Fished evening session after much of the day spent at Dinas which was getting a bit low. One other rod fishing all day. Interesting beat, quite overgrown in places and take care on the concrete walk ways. Fished much of the beat and then the prefered bits again in what looked like perfect conditions, sadly did not see any sign of Salar, although the other day rod lost a fish in the morning. Many thanks to all for arranging a great day's fishing in Wales.

I didn't catch anything or see a fish all day. I got the feeling that the beat is not terribly well looked after - the path down to the beat was overgrown and the walkway, which is referred to in the beat publicity, is in need of considerable repair. There was also very little detail on the beat map as to where to fish, where the lies and "hotspots" were etc. The other thing that did not please me was that there were a number of other people fishing the beat with their spinning rods!! I feel pretty confident they hadn't paid their £35.00 for the privilege!!All in all, not a great day.

WUF note - There has been an increase in poaching effort in this area recently so please ring the office immediately on seeing anything suspicious.

No Salmon although one good fish lost, snapped flyline leader. 2 Brownies to Salmon Lures 12oz & 1lbs both returned.
Meeting another vehicle halfway down the track to the parking would be interesting!

Caught 1 small sightly coloured salmon and lost another around the same size (about 5 pounds) when reaching for disgourger. All salmon caught on CD7 brown trout. Saw a few salmon moving through the beat just above the island later in the evening. About 7 - 8 small browns rangng from 7 - 10 inches caught and 1 larger brown of about 2 pounds caught on CD5 rainbow trout.
All fish caught were released. Very nice beat with varying water and easy access. Booked through the evening tickets scheme.

Very nearly didn't bother when I initially saw the state of the river; high and coloured like a strong builders brew. Having travelled hundereds of miles I decided to stick it out and was rewarded with about 20 nice brownies up to 1lb in horrible and difficult conditions. All on heavy nymphs, not a single fish rose. The river here is deep and unwadable in parts. An interesting beat but I'm not sure it justifies a hefty price tag, nor the claim that the average fish is 1lb!!

On a seperate note I witnessed a nasty mink on the far bank decimating the nest of Sand Martins. It killed three chicks in 1 hour! Also saw a guy on the far bank with a spinning rod who looked as though he was about to start fishing until he saw me.
