Fish seemed to be mostly on the bottom rather than rising, but 5 decent grayling on dry/duo up to 14", and a good half-hour in the evening (after 8pm) with a CDC caddis. The French nymph-ers (not me) were doing rather well!

River up at 1 metre on the Erwood gauge so we headed up the catchment. Was pushing through here at a fair old rate when we arrived bit it dropped a couple of inches through the day…. Dam water perhaps?

A few fish rising in mist of the usual spots and catches were shared around every pool. None of the clonking trout this time but most of the grayling and a couple of the trout were around the 15” mark …. Nice fish, but the best was a 17 inch grayling.

Starting to feel like autumn… come the evening the temperature plummeted, there was a mist coming off the river and breath was fogged. Car sensor said 10 degrees!

Another wonderful day in paradise….

I spent the the first 2.5hrs in the faster water and this is where the trout where caught all on ptn with a bit of flash.6.45 had food and couple of glasses of Merlot last hr was with spinners in the flat water both had quit a few nibbles A W did manage a nice grayling just before the light faded. enjoyable few hrs

Second day on Craig Llyn this week while on holiday. First visit on Monday was all about the nymphs, as a cold wind put an end to any real hatch - although a few sporadic risers were picked off with dry fly. So returned today in warmer conditions hoping for some dry fly sport. Wow wasn't disappointed. After a few trout and grayling were tempted to an olive emerger, thought the code was cracked. That was until the dry fly flats at the lower end erupted in what can only be described as a true spectacle of rising fish. Literally grayling were rising all around me. The olive was being rejected - a quick scan and scoop of the water revealed a carpet of flying ants. Change of fly and what then unfolded was the finest dry fly fishing I have ever experienced. Number and quality of grayling was unreal - best grayling was 50cm. I must have only covered 250m of the river before I decided to leave them to feed in peace having lost count.

Another quality two days on a favourite beat. Many thanks to the owner and WUF for access.
Ps. Sincere apologies to the owner, as when I sat to have my lunch on Monday the chair I first chose gave way and collapsed under me. Sorry.

Wind and rain all day made fishing difficult. Not one rise seen but not surprising given the conditions.
All fish came to the nymph, largest Graying going 18".
