After a slow start in terrible weather, the chub wanted trotted luncheon meat from a variety of different swims - being mobile was the key. Two bonus barbel of around 7lb on feeder and said float fished meat. Great days fishing in all around 60lb bag in total. Very happy.

Rained all day. Nothing doing in the morning. Dried off then returned for an hour approaching sunset and unexpectedly caught a nice barbel and a chub in the current alongside the two pools accessible from the bank path, on bounced meat, amazing sport in the fast current. Waders necessary here and any fixed leads or feeders will only get snagged.

It rained when I started. Fished the last croy no success. Moved to the bend, caught 4 barbel until a cormarant decided to pop up in my swim, gave it another hour, nothing. Time to head for home. It was still raining.

Wettest day fishing for a long time. Swims muddy and treacherous, but survivable with peg and rope and mud-crampons(!)
Virtually no sign of life apart from a stream of bubbles (Otter?) in Jack's swim, plus kingfishers, clattering pheasants, a couple of rats and the biggest robin I've ever seen which kept bouncing on and off my rod. Then as the light fell (to be honest it was gloomy all day) a shoal of chub moved into my swim and I had 3 nice chub in swift succession (Biggest looked not much short of 5lb), then a last cast barbel, which i deservedly lost through sheer cack-handed incompetence on my part. Jack suffered a frustrating day plagued by snags.
Hard Work!
... and then the rain finally stopped!
