River slightly high, very cold. Method used Klink and dink some fish taken on dries. Also tungsten beaded nymphs. Some fish on swing round and on hang. Generally very good for the time of year and conditions. Sporadic rise when sun broke through.

A tough day today. The trout just weren't interested. We fished hard with nymphs & bugs in the morning but with no success. A brief olive hatch around 1pm brought some fish to the surface & we had some sport with 5 oos grayling on the dry fly. Water was on the high side.

2 of us fished again today as guests of Shaun (thanks Shaun). After a great day yesterday, and with the water slightly lower again, we were quietly confident. However, fishing being fishing - our confidence took a bit of a beating! Good weather, but cold in the wind. Had around 10 grayling to 1.5lbs between us - no trout today. Spent a couple of hours chatting with Shaun on the bank - just great to get out!

Great to be back on the River again! The seemingly everlasting winter floods having finally given way to more normal conditions. The floods have left the River running clear as gin, and there is just the faintest hint of spring in the air. 3 of us fished today in cold, but thankfully dry conditions. The grayling were still very much in evidence, and quite a few were taken in short bursts of activity throughout the day. Beaded nymphs of around 2.5 - 3mm suspended below a suitably large dry indicator proving to be most successful. An estimated 30+ grayling to 2lbs plus 4 out of season browns were returned. Looking forward now to the first real fly hatches of the year!

A lovely beat which I have fished around 6 times now. The river was nearly down to normal level after very high conditions a few days previous. The day started in a very frosty fashion and bright sunshine. I waded as deep as I dare go and fished all the pools. Nothing rising or hatching. Fished teams of weighted nymphs but still struggled to get into good enough positions to present them properly. I picked up a superb trout of around 2lb on home tied tungsten head UV nymph at about 11 in the morning. Fished hard for a few more hours with no touches. Around 3 O'Clock with my legs numb to the core I finally picked up a grayling off about 1.5b. I fished for another hour then called it a day. Always nice fishing this beat and can't wait to come on my next holiday in a few months when the sun is shining and the flies are hatching and hopefully have a few on drys.

Water at a good height and suprisingly running clear considering the previous day heavy rain. Misty, mild day that produced a few fish to dries. Most of the fish taken with heavy nymphs or a small bug under a klinkhammer. As you can see by the amount brown trout caught the mild winter so far has got them confused. Good to see the new owner has replaced or put in new styles that makes the trip to lower stretch of the beat easier. Great day on a fantastic beat.

Hard fishing, river high and coloured. New owner has done a lovely job on the stiles and seats.

Heavy rain and gusty winds in the early morning had brought down many leaves from the bank side trees resulting in huge rafts of leaves in parts of the beat which made them unfishable as the flies could not penetrate into the water.
Two good sized trout were seen on arrival and a salmon jumped at the top end late in the afternoon but we did not succeed in catching any grayling. No fish rising during our visit, but we all had a very enjoyable day.

My first time at the Upper Wye. A bit overcast but no rain to speak of. Myself and another angler on this beat today so we leapfrogged from midway up to the top limit over the day. I caught a number of good sized Grayling of a pound plus that came to a small copper head on the point or a micro hairs ear on the dropper. Very positive takes and great sport. The only thing that clouded the day was losing my net. Apart from this a very nice start to my week.

First time on this beat and loved it. Explored most of the pools and caught mainly on dries around the middle of the day (GRHE emerger).
