Lovely beat with lots of variety. Had the beat to myself. Plenty of flow in the pools suited to lower levels. Concentrated on The Butts, Islands and Farm Pool but no sign of a fish all day.
One discarded car battery retrieved from the bank for disposal. Need to be careful wading The Butts with the ironwork still in the river in places.
Excellent vehicular access on the right hand bank and could cross the river to fish the left bank at this height.
Will certainly return

Water level quite high and coloured. Caught one good brown trout about 2lb. Safely returned. Caught on NZ dropper with gold headed nymph. My first time on this beat, lovely spot. I would like to return next year with lower water levels.

Enjoyed the day. Very wet afternoon. Fished the right hand bank for trout - the more animated section by the hut and off the bank and waded further upstream. A few fish rising, a small hatch later in the day. No luck this time. Attractive stretch though quite expensive. Great to be able to drive along the bank. Very pleasant Sunday lunch at the nearby Horseshoe Inn.

Only fished in the morning. No rises. All five took a perdigon nymph (green and orange were the colours of the day) fished very deep in faster water. Smallest was just over 2 pounds and the largest just under 3.

It was disappointing that so little of the left bank was fishable; this was not made clear in the notes. There is only about 200m (the first field) from the fishing hut and the the bank is too wooded to access the water. This led to some wasted time walking long distances on the left bank to try to find opportunities, and then switching to the right bank in the afternoon, whereas it would have been better to take advantage of the longer fishable stretch on the right first then perhaps switch to the left bank for just the evening (or ignore it altogether).

A lovely stretch of river. Combination of trees and pasture. 3 trout caught and many others missed on dry fly during an olive's hatch and spinner fall. The largest and most olives I have ever seen in my life of fly-fishing all over the world! Many were several inches long in the body and creamy coloured. www.flyfishingtheworld.blogspot.com

Low summer water, pretty clear. Warm and overcast. One nice fish on a copper headed PTN with an orange thorax.
Good sedge hatch in the evening
