Top angling by R.H from Bristol, who managed to find and get amongst the fish, unlike myself despite 3/4 moves up and down the beat, regrettably i could not find those elusive Barbel. Fished this beat previously when it was a lot dryer, however following the overnight deluge of rain made the return journey up from the bottom of the hill that much more trickier and treacherous it took two attempts and a good run up to get past the slippery and muddier parts before finally making it to the gate. Beware when its wet a 4 x 4 would be considered the better option.
However a another great day was had, thanks again to the WUF and landowners for giving us great access to a great stretch of river and the wildlife that it provides.
I'll be back....soon.

Fished the entire length of the beat without a bite. Finally located fish at the top end in deeper, slower water. Water levels are still low although flow has improved in the last month

3 Barbel, 4, 6 and 9.5 Ibs in that order.

Fished 5 swims, mainly further down the beat, using a cage feeder and meat or pellet on the hook. The largest chub was 5lb 5oz. There was one baby barbel around 2lb which was good to see. The others came throughout the afternoon, with 1 over 5lb, 3 over 6lb, 3 over 7lb, and the largest were 8lb 2oz and 9lb 4oz. Thought I'd bagged my first double but will have to return. A real red letter day - loved it, even having to wade in and save one fish that got wrapped round a large branch floating downstream.
