River rising rapidly and hard to keep a rod in for more than 10 mins due to the amount of leaves + weed ect coming down. fish caught from several different swims mostly in the morning, alot of swims were un fishable by the afternoon apart from a near bank crease where the biggest of the day came from at 10lb 12oz

First time on this stretch. Well kept and some nice water but the constant traffic on the road near their far bank spoiled it for me. Two chub to about 5lb. Very clear for the Wye and quite low.

Not a great stretch. The video with the birdsong soundtrack somehow fails to capture the noise of the continual traffic on the opposite side. Bankside very steep and overgrown - can only get to the river in a few places, and virtually none of them have a place flat enough for a stool to sit on. Not a great day. Sorry, but I'll go elsewhere next time I'm on the Wye, unless they do something about access to the river.

After an extremely hard frost, probably the 1st of the season we new it would be difficult.

My first visit to this beat. There were more fishable swims than other reports led me to believe, but I failed to find any feeding fish after trying several of them. The weather was fantastic for the time of year, being warm and sunny with little or no wind. Water levels had dropped back almost to pre-spate level and the river was running quite clear. Evening was always going to be the best time, but it did’t happen for me on this occasion.

Quite a tough day on this picturesque beat.
Great access and being able to drive along the beat is a bonus.
One barbel of 9.5 and a chub.

First time on this beat, would love to see what it looks like under normal river levels, the river was still up but dropping ,the banks were kamikaze after the recent floods,so had to be very careful.Arrived to a very cold foggy morning, which didn’t clear till middle of morning, worked really hard for the 4 chub, chucked the kitchen sink at them but they weren’t having any of it,but that’s fishing, will be back definitely as there looks some really good pegs over the whole stretch.

Weather was clear and sunny at times. Unlike the fishing. The river levels were 3 foot up on summer levels, so the usual swims were unfishable. The water was very coloured.
Scratched about to get what would normally be caught in the first hour during summer.
Great venue, will come again when conditions are hopefully less challenging.

Fabulous day. Caught the river fining down after a big flood, my favourite conditions. Hooked and lost what felt like a sizeable fish in the first 15 minutes to a hook pull and lost one other in the afternoon to a severed hooklink.
Landed 5 barbel, with the largest going a very pleasing 10lb 3oz. The fish were landed on either large halibut pellets or fishy flavoured boilies, with a groundbait mix consisting of various pellet types, crushed up boilies, crushed hemp and fishmeal in a large feeder. Had to work quite hard to keep the fish coming. Each capture seemed to kill the swim completely, necessitating 5 moves through the day. I'd usually expect multiple captures from a swim with heavily coloured water, but you don't always get it your own way!
