Cold and strong upstream wind and bright sunshine, less LDO hatching than on other recent trips to the Usk and tricky to get a response from the few fish rising consistently. In the end a 14" brown was tempted close to trees in a sheltered part off the near (right) bank.

A very bright and warm day. Sporadic small hatches of LDOs and March Browns in the morning, nothing after 1.30pm. 2 BT on olive emerger and GRH nymph. Kingfishers and an otter made for a lovely day.

Really lovely afternoon of fishing...two small trout ( half pounders ) taken both on a gold nymph and both returned in good shape.

Wall to wall sunshine today, and it's a bank holiday! A couple of flurries of March Browns, but few LDOs. Four good trout including a beautiful eighteen incher. All on nymph. All returned.

Fantastic fishing during a very short hatch of March Browns. Both rods managed fish between 10 and 16" on dry flies and nymphs.

Interesting beat. The water was still a little too high which made the wading quite hairy in some of the nymphing water and also limited where you could dry fly fish in the flats. The MBs came of in pulses during the afternoon which made for some exciting fishing as we tried our best to make the most of the short hatches. Amazing to see the reaction of the fish when the MBs were hatching. Not the most prolific day - a handful of fish each to 1.75lbs.
This beat has the feel of somewhere that gets poached a lot. This was confirmed in the afternoon when we kicked off two poachers on the opposite bank and were told off by someone on the opposite bank accusing us of poaching (which we weren't)! Our feeling was that this beat needs to be checked for poaching more often and doesn't really justify the price, especially given that it's single bank.

Very small hatch of LDOs and no March Browns seen today with onlly one or two rises. Very gusty and strong wind. Two fish lost, none landed.

March browns came off for about 15 minutes in the afternoon. Managed to land nice fish of around 2lb and dropped a few more.

A lovely spring day - more lamb than lion today after a cold night in the campervan! Short bursts (10-12 minutes each) of furious fly activity, with March Browns in such intensity I have never seen before. Goodness, what a come-back this fly species is making on the Usk. Five good trout to 16 inches caught and returned. First visit to this beat. Very enjoyable.

A really good day. Sporadic hatches of LDOs and the odd flurry of March Browns. Fish rising very enthusiastically during hatches so catching on a dry fly (jingler) was easy. The size of fish caught was staggering. 3 fish of 1lb 13oz and one just over 2lb. Two more similar sized fish hooked and lost. Two otters busy fishing at the bottom of the beat, apparently unconcerned by my presence. 4 goosanders and one cormorant.
Pen y Fan covered in snow but weather was reasonably warm with little wind and some sun. Hatches were right on cue. Started at 11am and came to a full stop at 2.30pm.
