Fished for a couple of hours and then went to Talybont Resevoir due to high water conditions impacting fishing and making access difficult.

River high and a bit too coloured, also strong winds and rain. Trickle of March Browns around midday and saw the odd LDO. Very challenging and not surprised to blank. Tried dries, nymphs, spiders and a wooly bugger, but failed to move a single fish. Think this beat is one to probably avoid when the river is on the high - if fishing for trout that is. Almost all of it was inaccessible for wading during my visit.

First rod on the beat this year (so the owner told me). Fishing solo, i was nervous about wading most of the beat as the water seemed to be quite high with steep banks. I tried the pool nearest the house, however in a keen wind and with lots of tree cover, it was tricky, so I took off for the top of the beat. I was in time for a nice hatch of March browns/Olives ( not sure which but they were busy). This lasted from exactly mid day to nearly 1.00 pm. 4-5 trout then started to feed on surface flies at about 12.30. Had an enthusiastic take but not a decent hook up and another near miss then it was over. This was my first try with "pop up" emergers and I will definitely give them another go. Might be worth investigating parking near the bridge. Nice warm day with bursts of heavy rain, then bright sun.

Low water levels. Very little seen in the way of rising fish despite lots of flies coming off the water throughout the day.
Two fish to the net (3/4lbish),.
Further two fish lost after the jumped all o er the place amd shook the hooks ( barbless).
Two kingfishers seen in the evening sun ... lovely stuff.

Cut the day short due to rain. No fish - again :-( but fabulous lunch of meat pie and potatoes in the local village pub.... silver linings and all that.
