Tough going in the morning as the river had risen overnight and plenty of debris coming down. Fished the middle stretches in the morning without success so moved to the slower downstream section where the chub were mainly caught from. The barbel was taken from the other end of first field in the shallower water. All fish fell to single pellet.

Beautiful beat. Hooked a huge barbel within 10 minutes on luncheon meat with feeder. Thought I’d got it ready to land when it fired up the turbos and broke my line !! Very hard to read bites as so much debris in fast flowing water. Never lost so much gear in one session!!! Hundreds of fry at my feet all day !

Unfortunate conditions on Saturday. But with the much needed water, came the debris and rapid rise in level.
No fish landed.
Venue below designated swin was very busy four plus anglers.

Drop in temperature and cold rain all morning didn't do us any favours so pleased to at least have something to report. Shooters turned up mid morning which meant there was a couple of hours when we couldn't have left the upper beat even if we had wanted to, or perhaps more significantly had needed to. Caught on boilies, pellet and bread.

1 Barbel, 3 Chub
