Water falling after recent rain. 0.8 on the gauge was a good height for the river. It is a lovely secluded spot with plenty of streamy runs and pots to fish but the wading can be tricky in places. We caught our fish in the morning on Sawyer Killer Bugs and they were all returned. It went quiet in the afternoon as the temperature dropped but it was good to see several salmon show in the pools during the course of the day. There is plenty of water to occupy two rods for a day in this idyllic spot but it is hard to do it justice during the course of a single visit.

Despite not catching after the river was high, this was still a wonderful day and a chance to experience another beautiful beat. Varied and interesting, I cant wait to get back when the water levels are slightly lower.

Lovely day on the river, very low allowing access to the gutters and pots. Trickle of small olives and odd stonefly fluttering. Best trout 1lb and 3 grayling of similar size late in the afternoon on small olive CDC dries. Really picturesque beat the Wye valley in all its autumn glory.

Hard work today. Just one take on the nymph (and shaken off) and no rising fish (other than tiny graylets). I don'r recall seeing such low water levels in June

Lovely conditions, didn’t have as much time as I hoped and had to leave after a couple hours. Lost a couple on a GRHE. Beautiful beat, will return

What’s difference a day makes! Not a single trout compared to yesterday, water levels receding and slightly easier to get out into the river

After all of the years I have been to Wales, this was the best day in terms of catching, 7 caught on a small gold head PTN suspended from a dry fly and the seemed to be getting bigger as the day went, finally saw a few rises around 4pm so switched to a size 16 baby sun fly and cast to the rise, and fortunately rewarded with my biggest wild brown trout ever, around 14”.

River very tricky to get into as very deep as you enter in most places; running quite fast , could not access a stretch by the stream but looked like a very fishy spot!! Showers of rain and very overcast with a splattering of sunshine

Freezing cold and foggy. Decided to head for the hills for some sunshine .

River at .71, too high and strong to wade to the best spots. A blank today despite trying all the options I could think of. Really good to see that Salmon have reached the usual pools again and to be able to watch them at relatively close range.

All were rising to dries around the middle of the day
